I'm a Cardiff-based DJ specialising in jazz, blues, Arabic and Balkan beats. I play sax, clarinet and harmonica with funky jazz band Wonderbrass, and present the Jazz Connection on south Wales community stations Radio Cardiff and GTFM. I also present a bellydance show called A Night in Tunisia on Radio Cardiff, and report on Middle Eastern music and bellydance for the internet station Radio Salaam Shalom. In my day job I'm a website producer for the BBC.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone in south Wales who wants to form a 60s R'n'B band with a jazzy vocalist/harmonica player (guess who??) - imagine a blend of early Stones/Sonics/Strokes with Georgie Fame on vocals. Alternatively, anyone interested in performing Middle Eastern and/or Balkan/gypsy/klezmer music, and any bellydancers aged 16-60 who want to join the fun at the many haflas which take place around south Wales.

Gamarjoba Andy, I hope you manage to find your bigger stage. The band have recently been working on a eastern sounding dance tune which we are going to call Siluria. We'll send you and Siluria a copy once we have finalised it. Mean while , look after yourself, and we'll tell you when anything is happening for the band. We've had rather a slow start this year, but have got another band member and potentially five new numbers.
