My Showcase
Been into music since birth. Spinning since 1997. Making own music since 2000. DJ Jazznosis (born Robert Thompson) was raised on soul and mostly jazz as his father collected records by many legends like Donald Byrd, Charles Earland and Art Blakey. But his love for music was only the beginning as hip hop, house and rock became influences during high school, and later reggae, drum & bass, trip hop, 2-step (a UK based music genre), Afrobeat and various African and Latin rhythms. However, the jazz elements became the foundation to Jazznosis' mixing style and beat composing no matter what the format.
Jazznosis founded T'izm Sound soon after he began mastering the 1's & 2's and progressing in the beats and sampling. The "T" is for Thompson and "izm" is a state of high. The name's concept is to get the listener high from Jazznosis' music. Though originally thought of as only a DJ business, T'izm Sound is more of a collective of hip hop and soul artists with Jazznosis mostly at the helm as their producer. These artists include Mr. Sho-Nuff, I.P. The Ghost and O.N.E.
But Jazznosis doesn't stop there. Though mostly into hip hop, he composes drum & bass, neo-soul and trip hop tracks with an endless fusion of different other music elements and sounds. He even does occasional vocal work from rapping, spoken word to background harmony vocals, and is even trying to teach himself to play bass guitar now. Although he's received numerous praise for his tracks and instumentation, arguably Jazznosis is best appreciated for his eclectic DJ sets whether solo or with a live musician or band. Whenever you hear Jazznosis spin, you'll soon consider him as more of an artist or musician than just a ordinary DJ behind the wheels.
