JAZZOO is quite the character!
A cousin to SAZOO, the monkey mascot for the Santa Ana Zoo, JAZZOO is the mascot for the "Sunset at the Zoo" Summer concert series, his one and only job is to have fun and make sure all his guests do the same.
Whether it's the unique signature special event or occasions, family friendly environment, party picnic atmosphere, the animals, the great performances, or the displays of art, there is something for everyone at all Santa Ana Zoo events.
The "Sunset at the Zoo" series is one of the most fun and unique concert events in Orange County.
Check out the "Sunset at the Zoo" and "Blues at the Zoo" blogs above for more info.
Big thanks to: Villa Ford, Parties by Panache, R.W.B. Party Props, Ibiza West Studios, LA Perla del Amazonaz Restaurant, the artists from the Santiago Lofts and Santora Artist Districts, and all the other supporters, participants, and volunteers for making the 2009 "Sunset at the Zoo" summer concert series possible.
The Santa Ana Zoo is the most unique venue in Orange County for these kinds of shows, and in addition to all this cool stuff, you get to roam the Zoo and see some amazing animals!
Check back here often and see the calendar column to the left for updates on all the fun stuff we have planned throughout the year!
All proceeds from these events go to benefit the Friends of the Santa Ana Zoo, (a 501(c)3 nonprofit) and will be used for new animals and exhibits, Zoo educational programs, animal enrichments, events, and other Zoo improvements.
See the Santa Ana Zoo website at www.santaanazoo.org
for more information on the Zoo, membership, programs, and other special events.
See you there!
Monkey Business!
A pair of Golden Lion Tamarin monkeys was born at the Santa Ana Zoo!
These monkeys are considered endangered, so we're happy that this means they are that much safer from extinction. Read the "Endangered Monkeys" blog for more info.
We also had a Saki Monkey birth. This is not the first for this happy family, and the baby is happy and healthy. The white faced Saki monkeys can be found in the Rainforest exhibit.
The Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park is Orange County's only AZA accredited zoo.
We have a strong focus on neotropic (Central and South American) and rainforest animals in our collection, and a large primate collection that earned us the nickname of "The Monkey Zoo".
The Santa Ana Zoo participates in several Species Survival Programs to support animals considered rare or endangered in the wild.
