Sounds Like
Improv Jazz. Coltrane, Miles, Henry Threadgill, Albert Ayler, Archie Shepp, Ornette Coleman, Frank Zappa xenochronous recording. Free Jazz. Commercial Free Jazz.
Music runs through my veins, sometimes I do get clots and the music builds up without an outlet. I started doing Jazz Improv several years ago in the hopes of paying homage to some of my jazz heroes. My love of Coltrane, Miles, Ornette, Dolphy, etc.. have kept me going. At any given moment I'm Improv'ing on drums, sax, bass, guitar, keys. Here are some of the pieces that I've tried to find a moment of spiritual awakening in.
I'm always looking for people to jam with and always working on my abilities as an artist, musician, human being.
Fudge, that stuff sucks. You don't need that. Alcohol, you're not much of a drinker anyway, so no biggy there. Seafood, that's never better than a nice steak or burger, you don't need that. Ice cream, never better than stuffing yourself silly on red meat, so eat a big steak or big burger and you won't want ice cream. Crazy people make the world more interesting and make you feel better about yourself, so you can walk around sayign to yourself, "I'm not as f'ed up as that guy". The cigar thing though. That sucks. I smoked one yesterday after I said I'd take a month off. It was staring at me, begging me to smoke it.
I had a great time. Thanks for everything. That Jenny Lewis is awesome. I am currently working on doing my songs as completed as I can get them the way I want them to help me figure out what all I'll need to do. I'll be talking to you quite a bit over the next month so we can hit the ground running when smoking season starts back up.
Cool, I was just thinking about emailing you to see if you got it. Yeah, I've almost convinced myself that that the end product justifies the insanity of --and the gray hairs acquired during-- the mixing process...
