Jazz the Ripper is a Jazz organ trio. Instrumentation is comprised of Saxophones, Drums/percussion and Hammond B3 organ. The trio has many influences such as Richard "Groove" Holmes, Jimmy Smith, Dr. Lonnie Smith to name a few, but aside from playing classics, by the great jazz artists,..the band is also venturing into the Original realm of jazz music, with our own compositions,..as above, with more on the way. ........We try to maintain a classic organ trio sound,....yet experiment using different voicings, giving the jazz covers as well as our originals a unique signature. Everything is recorded live using no added tracks as to maintain true authenticity. The trio plays in styles from Bebop, straight ahead, Funk and growling Blues, to Jazz standards and Latin jazz. Based in Central Ct. USA,..the players average over 40 years playing experience each, individually, but have played together in different venues over the past 30 years. .. .....The players all hail from Meriden Ct. Bill Fischer, on Saxophones, attended the Berklee college of Music, (had also studied with saxophone great Jackie McLean). Richard Hines on Drums,...and Fred Marino on Hammond B3 organ. Even though trends, fads, and what's popular in the music scene come and go..we are dedicated to preserving the jazz we love, uncompromizing quality, and the signature Hammond organ trio sound.
