As you'd expect, each member brings a wealth of musical influences with them.
Whether these actually materialise in our playing isn't really a preconceived thing, but here are some other musicians we like:
AIM, Portishead, Morcheeba, Kinobe, Zero 7 and Coldcut.
Dreadzone, Salmonella Dub, King Tubby, Culture and Horace Andy.
Koop, Bonobo, Cinematic Orchestra, Tortoise, Nightmares On Wax, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis.
The Meters, James Brown, Talking Heads and Funkadelic.
The Cocteau Twins, Kraut Rock, Magazine, Julian of Yatesbury, The Doors, The Cure and Joy Division.
Lamb, Leftfield, Kosheen, Goldfrapp and Lemon Jelly.
Led Zeppelin, Eels, Bolan and Bowie.
There’s a place in my heart
Where the daylight don’t go,
Like voodoo it’s dark
Where I’m the me you don’t know.
Down the stone steps
To where everything’s red,
Where the music is king
And comes out of my head.

"cement" Feral Shrew Fanzine
Well, we did say "Concrete", when asked, during the interview what genres we thought would vaguely describe us. Maybe "cement" is more appropriate, somehow.
Plak Şirketi
A scrupulous one with a sense of adventure please.
Okay, so the chance is a billion to one. And that's despite the fact we're only up against about twenty other bands, as I type. You see, there's a competition on for up-and-coming bands to play at next year's big Somerset shindig: Glastonbury Festival (Click this text). You may have heard of it.
More bands are now latching onto this window of opportunity - so our chances are plummeting from one in a billion to one in a zing-quintillion. Hopefully it's all being judged on musical merit - but there is a visitor counter, so whether our page gets enough hits might also be a deciding factor. It'd probably be wise to visit that link hourly. All day. Every day. And tell your friends to tell their friends to do the same. Hmmm... Still, that page in the link looks impressive, doesn't it? Well, doesn't it? Come on, work with us, here.
..
Chris has a new bass rig and has graduated to 5-string bass - and Stuart also has a new toy; a guitar synth. Nick's new tom-tom heads sound fantastic but being eBay bargains they don't really generate the collective excitement in quite the same way.
We thank everyone out there for your kind emails and comments. We do read them all.
In The Pipeline
We're speaking to promoters about more live appearances including some small Summer festivals. Things are in the pipeline to raise some optimism in these dull soggy times. Hopefully we can confirm a few soon. - We're also in touch with other top people involved in recording and broadcasting music. Getting our tunes heard by folk is what we enjoy most about being Neotopia, so for us to hear that radio stations actually want us to visit them - or to send copies of our recordings for broadcast is a very nice thing.
Those familiar with underground internet stations and podcasts may have already heard us popping up, here and there. We thank all these stations, big and small, for showing interest in us and for spreading the music of Neotopia. Respect due. We're very VERY excited to have been invited to the studios to play live on the BBC Hereford & Worcester programme 'The Friday Session' - and are already in debate over which songs to perform. Do you have any preferences?
A seasonal return visit to Shropshire's hidden delight The Horseshoe Inn is also on the cards, following a truly sublime evening which saw us performing two sets from our expanding repertoire of delicious grooves. The return date is set for Friday 18th December! Stick it on your calendar or diary immediately, as you'll only go and agree to some rubbish seasonal drinks thingy after work, with somebody from the boring accounts department. And then, when you realise your oversight, will feel guilty about trying to get out of it, as he doesn't have any other friends. - And don't think for a minute about bringing him along with you to see us!
And, just a few nights before that on Wednesday December 16th we make a return visit to The HIVE, in Shrewsbury. Other dates, as we confirm will be posted on the calendar thingy, above.
..
We're always on the lookout for nice places to play. Indoors or out in the elements. Drop us a line if you'd like a bit of this sort of thing happening near you.
As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
