As an artist, I am often asked what the meaning behind a given piece of artwork is. Of course I have my own motivation for creating the work, but it is my desire that when someone views my paintings, they are not only moved by it’s’ form, color, and composition but also by a self realized interpretation brought on by life’s events. In other words, a sympathetic and/or empathetic emotional response formed by the connection between the piece and the viewers own personal history. Since my art manifests through my own emotions caused by life’s events, I want the viewer to feel a similar response but without my feelings being forced upon them.
