Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Jaiy Bradie is no stranger to the word hustle.
Sometimes the only way out is in. And “In” can mean anything you want it to: school, sports, or the streets were the choices and what choose Jaiy were the streets. The same scenario, of which many of today’s artists claim, also played out in Jaiy’s life. Coming from a good up bringing but not enough money to support the clothes and shoe fetishes of a young teenager quickly pushed him away from the life which his parents mapped out for him and into the back roads of trouble.
Catching his first case at the age of 17 for gun possession was a life altering experience for Jaiy and his mother; one that would never be forgotten. Giving him the alternative of getting out his mother’s life or going to the army he chose the army to make his mother happy. It was in service that he developed his style for rapping. Performing in front of enlisted soldiers and military personnel opened his eyes to a career never thought of before.
After being discharged from active duty, his rap career was put on hold due to financial issues. Trying to please his mother, he decided to try regular employment where he began truck driving, but long hours and not enough money quickly ended that 9-5 haul. Hitting the block was the only choice and whether it was a smart choice or not is a question that has not yet been answered.
Not having the attitude of ‘me myself and I’ is what separates Jaiy from other young people and always presenting a quality of leadership is what keeps his people loyal to him. Using his own money, Jaiy Bradie has fed the homeless at functions throughout the year, always trying to give back to those less fortunate. But he realized that when you’re not classified as a star things like that don’t reach national public attention. But Jaiy has never made Jaiy give up his spirit of helping.
On Christmas night 2004, his life took an earthquake blow to the heart that would stop his giving back spirit for a while. That fateful night, his world was rocked forever when family members called to tell him that his father had just died due to a preventable heart attack. Not being able to think straight, the next couple of months were spent really concentrating on contemplating the path he was taking in his life. He realized he wanted his life to be one which his kids could be proud of him for.
Finally Jaiy got serious about his music and recorded his first album “Back On BullShyt” which sold 22,000 copies independently. Still not gaining the respect of radio stations and record labels, Jaiy decided to record his 2nd album “Street Certified” which also was sold independently and went on to sell 27,000.
Jaiy feels that with all the opportunities that present itself for independent distribution, why settle for a record deal? His new album “The Opposite of Failure” will be presented on a 15 State tour in conjunction with a new reality show Called Grind Mode. The aim is to sell 500,000 units sold with provable sound scan stats and combined internet sales.
Possessing every quality that is needed to be considered a star Jaiy, awaits his time to shine patiently. Learning early ‘it’s not what you know, it’s who you know’ makes Jaiy frustrated, but he just shrugs and says “what can I do but just get money?” He goes on to say, “I know it’s hard for independent artist to make a name for themselves because there are so many people trying to rap that shouldn’t be. But if you don’t like at least 10 of 13 songs on the new album you are a hater and you need counseling, there is no other excuse. Being from a city that already deals you 2 strikes before you step up to the plate you got make sure all your shit tight, and this album can go toe to toe with the best of them. So to whomever it may concern FUCK WIT THE DUDE CUZ HE HOT AND IF YOU LIKE GOOD MUSIC DON’T SELL HIM SHORT CUZ HE AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST!”
Grynd Mode is a reality show that will highlight the ambition and drive in one man’s dream to be the next big rap star without the help of record executives and A&R’s.
This show will take the underground talent to the next level giving hope to millions of artist struggling in the same position without the knowledge for the root of success.
For the last 5 years there has been a rash of websites and workshops that present artists with a chance for success if they pay a certain amount of money, which can range from $199-$2,000. Some even charge a monthly fee and instead of creating an opportunity for success these sites create false hopes and leave an artist with nothing but broken promises.
Grynd Mode will define artist self preservation. It will also set new standards in the industry by offering unparalleled opportunity for independent artist trying to obtain the knowledge of know how to be successful in an industry that is only designed for artists that are signed to a major label.
