My favorite bands are: System of a Down, Tool, Muse. Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Pink Floyd, and also Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, The Killers, The White Stripes, Chevelle, Gorillaz, Daft Punk, The Doors, Godsmack, U2 (mostly older stuff), Metallica (older stuff). I'll listen to -and likely enjoy- almost anything in the broad "Rock"-genre. I like some R&B, Techno, lots of "Celtic" music, and I love (good) film scores/soundtracks.
Movies
(There are so many!)Solaris (US one), 2001: A Space Odyssey, Peter Jackson's LOTR films weren't too bad at all! I love Godzilla movies! (Still coming up w/a good list of films)
Television
My favorite TV shows are: Mystery Science Theater 3000 (best show ever!), First Wave, Lexx, Doctor Who, (and much other Sci-Fi), Roar (breifly on Fox in '96 or '97?), The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (& a few others on Comedy Central), Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Ergo Proxy, tons of stuff from Cartoon Network's [adult swim] programing, like InuYasha, Space Ghost Coast to Coast (I love Brak!), Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, among others. I grew up on Voltron, Thundercats, Transformers, He-Man, &c. I like House, Law & Order SVU, and I watch a whole lot of PBS programming. Sunday morning News/Talkshows are a must see for me! I could watch CSPAN all day. I don't currently have cable or satelite. :(
Books
My favorite fiction authors: J.R.R. Tolkien, Arthur C. Clarke, Alistair Reynolds (I love SF). I generally read much more non-fiction though. Political science, philosophy & theory mostly; some history, anthropology, psychology, &c. Yes, that is in my spare time, for enjoyment. No, I don't think it is boring!
Heroes
I wrote a great essay on the subject way back in high school: basically, I don't believe in such a thing. I do have people I look up to in some way, or at least appreciate. I'm grateful for having some intelligent people to try to learn from, like my boss Hakim Hazim.

oh i know! I'm going to Grouse now, starting April 1! They just keep moving me around darnit. I kinda volunteered for it, but I didn't think they would do it so soon! Sheesh. So how are ya?
I hear that there are quite a few states that are trying to get their Nat'l Guard units back.
Think about how naked our country really is. All the money that we spend on the military and it's only something like 10% of it that actually goes towards defense. The rest pays for our overseas operations. What a sick joke. No wonder we're beyond br0ke

Ooowee Jay I Love You very much! I think you are sexy and I want to jump you bones, again. In two weeks we have the same days off. Maybe we could get a babysitter for the evening and make naughty.
