JC
JC and the Pickups formed in the late summer of 1996 when JC, Mook, Steve Velani and Marshall Moody played the bandstand on the Common in Gardiner, ME. After slaying the 23 people in attendance, band included, they all looked at each other and said, "We should do this some more." So it began.
Gigs began in earnest at the Tilbury Town Tavern in Gardiner in the winter of 1997. Due to JC's lack of practicing ethic and a general lack of "band commitment", the only constant members were JC and Mook. Bass and guitar spots were filled on a gig to gig basis, hence the real meaning of "Pickups". The spots were filled by a veritable revolving door of some of Maine's most talented musicians; all devoted to the sole purpose of playing off-the-cuff both for the sheer joy of spontaneous improvisation and out of necessity; all focused on doling out soul not to a seated crowd of polite listeners, but to a sweaty dance floor of shaking asses.
By a stroke of divine intervention by way of some personal tragedies, JC and the Pickups began their long-standing gig as staff band at Three Rivers Whitewater. For a while, summers were spent on the banks of the upper Kennebec in the West Forks followed by steamy winter nights on the banks of the middle Kennebec at the Tavern. With the Forks gigs came a settling of the non-Mook/JC positions in the band, since it was easier to get steady band members for a gig that far away from, well, civilization. Brother Joe Christopher learned some guitar and started his apprenticeship as "Rhythm Bitch". Billy Baird and Randito Morabito have filled the bass spot on a non-elected two-year rotation. Scheduling issues still afford the opportunity of rotating players at any given gig.
There have been many highlights: playing on a flat bed trailer to a yard of somewhat bemused country and western loving folk at Paul-E-Kat's Trucker Roundup, JC fulfilling a lifelong dream of performing on the stage of the Patten Gym, boobs boobs and more boobs in front of the "Shack of Soul", pulling off our one gig in the big city at Brian Boru's, even playing to a steady ten people at Where It's At whenever they wanted to.
2007 marks the ten year anniversary of the band and as such they are celebrating their "Tin Jubilee" by inviting special guests, releasing old recordings, and pulling out old favorite songs from their extensive song list.
If you see them coming to a bar near you, go see them. They like people believe it or not.

CountryHome Forum have more than 5,000 members. Each news you submit to CountryHome Forum will released to my weekly Newsletter with more than 50,000 readers.
Please submit your artist news and events to CountryHome Forum to help your artists to get well known better in Europe. If you do not have the time to submit your artist news and events by yourself, please send it me to: Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de and I will submit them by myself to CountryHome Forum.
I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.
I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
Thanks

Hey Justin, I see you're still hanging out in the forks. I'm busy playing music; solo, duo, rock trio, and a Springsteen Tribute Band (it's the recession tour.) Good to hear from you; rock on.
