Originally from Los Angeles, California, J. Charles has been a professional saxophonist and composer/arranger since the age of 17. He has performed and/or recorded with some of the world’s best and most famous musical acts, including the Coasters, the Shirelles, Ike Turner, Kenny Burrell, Tom Scott, Kei Akagi, and toured nationally and internationally as band leader and featured soloist with Grammy-winner King Solomon Burke.
Charles studied jazz performance and composition at Berklee College of Music, Boston, and University of California, Irvine. He currently resides in Seattle, WA, with his two very furry children, George and Gracie.
