I am a writer, poet & lyricist who has been involved with world music and Brazilian music for many years. I am currently putting together music with experimental and ambient flavors, using Apple's Garage Band.
"Rendezvous in Trieste" is a mysterious little number. "Udu Funk" is a flashback to funkier times, with African udu drums and Brazilian batucada (caixa and repique drums, and shakers) mixed in. "Friday" blends salsa-ish piano and a little psychedelia with the default voice on my answering machine. "Cave Cat" is a sort of batucada chamber piece.
"Appalachian Windowpane" and "Never Say NeoCon" were co-composed with Aaron Jones.
Hail, Gowan.... I hope you’re well, dear friend. I really enjoyed your great set at Galactus. The huge drum bateria and Tibetan monk choir in the final song, "Udu Funk," was a transcendent blend. It was good of you to include Shatner playing cowbell on "Cave Cat." His self-esteem was shattered by the poor audience response to his reggae version of "She Bangs." Regrettably, our XII mastering session was not to our liking, resulting in a tinny-sounding CD (it happens). What initially sounded like "ommm" ended up like "YEEAAHH"...in other words, what sounded like Peter Gabriel came out sounding like Nine Inch Nails (oh, well... as the stars will have it). We will work hard at this, and may find a different facility… we’ll take a break from the MS world for a few weeks, in order to put full effort into our mastering quest. In the meantime, please enjoy a free (if flawed) download of our song, “Supermen,” available on my site’s player. Enjoy a weekend of crystal-clear music! Peace, love, & space-brotherhood, RE-VO
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
Galactus day will soon be here... a time to rock and roll White Mountain. RE-VO will be there to play and preach the Cosmogaian way. Although his drummer's very strange, I've heard some say, in whispered tones, it's better than the warm-up act, when Shatner sings in swoopy moans. Each year, he raps and cites King Lear (I think the dude is really weird). I'd rather Nimoy took the stage and sang folksongs with Vulcan rage. At least old Leonard wouldn't leave large spaces in between his words, and do bizarre amounts of plugs for Priceline (Bill is quite absurd). When he is done, though, everyone looks forward to the man who wrote the book on Cosmogaian life, and Baba Ed. The dude we quote whenever space-bros get together toasting cosmic, mystic ways. The crowd will stand and shout and cheer when noble Gowan takes the stage.
Wishing you a great weekend, dear friend. Peace, love, and space-brotherhood, RE-VO
Thank you. Congratulations on the excellent work and great sounds and atmospheres produced here!!! I hope you enjoy my music too. Maintain contact. Greetings From Bhz/MG.
He's mad, I tell you, mad as a hatter. Jumps from one world to the other. Genius will do that to you. Cosmic bliss is Gowan's brother. He'll amaze you with his words, like Lennon mixed with Carl Sagen. Lo, he's wise and well-respected... Einstein mixed with Uta Hagen. Don't discount this sage space-brother, sci-fi guru of the age. We await the coming years when all the world is Gowan's stage.
Like beatnik poet on the yage, some hippie, Cosmogaian sage, he taunts us with his cleverness and Amazonian brilliance. We click our fingers knowingly, and still, we'll maybe never know the depths of wisdom plumbed therein beneath the trance of Gowan's pen. My Friday just got Udu funky, dazzled by Brazilian monkeys, all the while that Rio poet mystifies me: now, he knows it. If my words inspire the sage, I've done my bit... now, turn the page.
I wonder if he's truly sane on Appalachian Windowpane... launched into some weird sci-fi place, where aliens from outer space are truly engineers of man with some great arcane, mystic plan. Conceiving, as he often does, imagining (due to his buzz) such people as we've never seen, with dialogue and wild scenes. These people, known as Cosmogaians, aren't like the French or even Hawaiians... they're more like hippies, supercool, unlike the stuffy, staunch N'Am fools. Well, anyway, they save the Earth, and usher in a new rebirth. The greatest story ever told, it's visionary, new, and bold. Yet, I still wonder if he's sane, that Gowan on his Windowpane.
Great to have you as a friend! Keep an eye on our “California Dream Festival” in August! Maybe we see us here in Austria. Cheers and all the best, Evi & Peter

The Prophet Gowan fills the page with thoughts that make the Tories rage. A true subversive Liberal, he: at least that's what George Bush believes. Oh, well, correction-- I should say that Bush has had NO thoughts, today. He's just a doped-up puppet king reciting lines and citing things he really doesn't understand (precisely why he rules the land). It's good for them to hire guys who say the lines, the dope, the lies. Such actors make good presidents: they don't make waves, they have no sense. If independently they choose to sing the military blues, and call back armies from the front, they'll pay the price, they'll take the brunt. The CIA will shoot them down and other men will go to town. The Prophet Gowan knows all this, and had to find a place of bliss. He knew the whys, the wheres, and hows..... That's why he lives in Rio, now.
Hail, Gowan... Greetings, fellow spaceman, and architect of Cosmogaian ideology.
And so, we've had a brief reprieve (I thought that Bush would never leave). And Blues believe that all will change, while Reds plan mutiny most strange. "Bipartisan!" It's what we need to heal a nation as it bleeds the red blood born of piracy, of conquest, hate, and secrecy. We have to work together now to solve the whys, the whats, and hows. 'United' is the only way we'll live to see another day. At least, we have a decent man who's filled with strategies and plans. Instead of just a coked-out dope, we have audacity of hope. The end of lying, cheating thieves (provided that they REALLY leave).
Wishing you a weekend filled with the audacity of hope. Peace, love, and space-brotherhood, RE-VO P.S. Yes, we can!
I've got a groovy Udu funk for you, and in Trieste, why, we shall have a rendezvous. But, I just dropped some Appalachian windowpane, and that is why I sing this strange, bizarre refrain. Well, there's a spoonful of laudanum in my tea, and just a pinch of batucada do I see. I can see why you cite the Chieftains and Uakti: this groove's so strange, I'm finding 'normal' in Satie. I've got a groovy Udu funk for you, from now on, that's all I want to do. And why'd I cite Delanie Bramlett-- who knew I'd have a groovy Udu funk for you?
Sometimes, in space, you're upside down. This is the norm for one named Gowan. An EVA is on his list of thing to do. I must insist this guy's a gonzo spaceman brave, on mountains and Pacific waves. This topsy-turvy lack of ground? It's what he loves, the dude named Gowan.
Wishing you a spectacular Sunday, and a week of wild adventures. Peace, love, and space-brotherhood, RE-VO
Hail, Gowan, I hope that you and your beautiful family are all well. You must stop at dreamland11 and check out my new photo archive, RE-VO at FAN EXPO CANADA 2008... there, you will see photos of me promoting the album at exciting Q&A and photo sessions, along with gorgeous Therese DeGrace (star of RE-VO's "Worldview"). We met and schmoozed with sci-fi stars like Kate Mulgrew and Sean Astin, and with legendary spacemen like Buzz Aldrin. There were literally legions of stormtroopers and Jedi Knights. It was amazing, dear Gowan. Please come by and take a look, my friend. Peace, love, and space-brotherhood, RE-VO
