Laura and I moved into a house in Monroe last August. For those of you that listen to Bob & Tom, that means we bask in the radiant glow of Heywood's "Big Butter Jesus." For the rest of you, that means we're nearly dead-center between Cincinnati and Dayton.
I'm a car guy with a predilection towards road racing. I started karting on dirt bull rings around Marietta at 7. On my 14th birthday, I ran my first kart race at Mid-Ohio. In '97, I started running SCCA Regionals at Mid-Ohio, with a couple side trips to IRP. I also gave bracket racing a whirl on our honeymoon at Coastal Plains Dragway in Jacksonville, NC in a friend's mild 11-sec Monte Carlo SS.
For the last several years, I've also been giving "joy rides" to corporate guests, VIPs, raffle winners, etc during professional events at Mid-Ohio for The Mid-Ohio School. I officially joined The Mid-Ohio School as an instuctor for the '07 season.
Also, I've been instructing NASA HPDE's (track days) at Mid-Ohio since late '02. It's been rewarding sharing skills with drivers new to the track. (Also affords one the chance to snag the occasional drive in cool cars.)
I also have gotten a small taste of "Hollywood," having worked as an extra with Laura on two episodes of "One Tree Hill."
Here's an old clip of me playing at Mid-Ohio. I believe this ended up being one of my best laps, and is a couple laps before the RR hub broke entering Turn 1. The RR wheel went bouncing away (with car & I pirouetting the other way!), and in the ensuing tow truck ride, "You Picked A Fine Time to Leave Me Loose Wheel" was sung to me. Boogity indeed!
Summer street ride that could double at a track day or 2 with full Pedders track susp and about 400 at the rear wheels- hope your holidays were great, Happy New Year- see you in a couple months
Lucky bugger, sitting back watching Top Gear! Hope you have a great Christmas break and enjoy the festivities before getting 'back on track' (literally) in season 2008.
Hehe... that'd be nice! Something tells me you won't get your bags' credit though. You must be racking up the points with your travels lately. Not at all unlike myself...!!
