What happens when you fuse, the sounds of House, Breaks, Hard House, Drum N Bass, Rock and Hip-Hop?
You get the unique sound of J.D. Funk, since 2000 Jeremy Barry aka J.D. Funk has been behind the decks rocking dance floors from coast to coast, bringing his one of a kind unique style of mixing, scratching, and stage presence to dance floors time and time again. Known by most as simply a multi-genere DJ, J.D. can bring sounds and elements from any type of medium, weather its simply rocking a club with some good old fashion house, and breaks or weather its delivering a mind bending, set that take you on a journey were no stone is left unturned.
J.D.'s musical knowledge and background did not start when he was introduce to the scene it goes back further than that, J.D. was a drummer through JR High, And High school, and also played the saxophone on top. J.D.s appreciation for music set him on an adventure, that would one day at the young age of 16 introduce him to the realm of DJing through "mobile" djing, doing a weekly event and other small traveling gigs, J.D. began to learn about what it took to be an all around DJ, the ability to track list, to talk to the crowed, to always be looking for new and improved ideas, soon after that J.D. found himself in the Club Djing on Friday nights in his home town at the beat of Top 40, during that time, is when J.D. was introduced to house music, and the rave scene, from there, it was no turning back.
Armed with all the knowledge he had music wise, and Djing wise, J.D. knew he could easily rule the techno world, after only 6 months of promoting and teaching himself the ropes, J.D. was playing for some of the biggest promoters in Seattle.
Since then J.D. Has Traveled and Played places like Or, Ca, NC, NY, Fl and all over his home state of Washington, and has shared the bill with Dj's like Irene. Kid Krazzy, Bam Bam, Lou is Osbourne, Dj Venom, Dj Swamp, Atomic Babies, Frankie Bones, Dj Trajic and many others.
J.D. has also been busy in the studio pumping out mixes, and doing re mixes, and producing his own original material, J.D. has taken his love of music to the studio, the same way he does behind the decks, his production blur the line of genre, and he produces anything from electro-house, to hard techno, to hip-hop, to drum n bass you can expect alot from J.D. this year as he is in the works of start his own label Korupt Recordings, which will feature music from all styles of music across the board, along with starting the label, J.D. has been doing his own remix work, and original production as well as working with other artists to come up with new ideas to push the sound further, you can find most of J.D.'s releases on beatport.com.
