J Dub always looked at his life like a motion picture, always waiting to see what unfolds in the “plot” of his life. While searching for his big break in the music industry, the setting of the story, Detroit’s West side, did not seem too promising of a happy ending. Music is his life, and he will do everything in his power to make it to the top before the credits roll.
Music Producer J Dub was born Jason Alexander Woods in 1989. Growing up, he always had the desire to create music, whether it was banging on pots and pans, or playing elementary level melodies on an inexpensive keyboard. Young Dub grasped the ability to compose music at an early age. While listening to the radio during his younger years, the music moved him in a way that he now wishes to move people with his own personal craft. Music later became his passion.
J Dub took an interest in music production during his first year in high school, among other career paths, such as architecture and graphic design. He had no means or equipment to start with, just a dream in mind. He often found himself beating on the lunch tables while his friends freestyled, and in the classroom drumming with pens and pencils. This behavior started back in middle school. “After a while it got pretty lame”, J Dub admits. One day, his teacher at Henry Ford High School suggested that he joined the school band. J Dub quotes, “I always wanted to be in the marching band, but didn’t know how to play any instruments”. Promptly, he took up beginning band class. There he learned the basics.
Immediately after finishing the 9th grade in 2005, he discovered something that would later put him well on his way to becoming one of the greatest producers alive. His older brother, rapper J Real, introduced him to a program called Fruity Loops, a.k.a. FL Studio. He began to experiment with the software, while learning about its seemingly endless possibilities. He stunned his brother by how quickly he caught on. Dub started making beats at the age of 15, and has been tearing it up ever since.
The musical influences that he had over the years of his experience were later found responsible for the Southernized, Midwestern sound that is a J Dub production. “The whole crunk movement had a big influence on me as a producer”, Dub reflects. “Just listening to the music made me want to be the man behind the beats”. Despite his strongly pronounced hip-hop background, J had his versatility in mind. He would take elements from many different genres, and weld them all together into one format. Doing this, he still maintained the “sound of the streets”, that jaw dropping bass with catchy melodies that almost every local artist was looking for. He would continue to do this until it was certain that something new and unique has been brought to the table. After years of practice, his craft is nearly perfected. He looks back at his past beats and laughs, as they indicate his growth and development as a “beat maker”. Now at the age of 20, J Dub continues to bring heat like no other.

For all the guys out there: have you ever met a female who had it all – beauty, intelligence, style, class – but ended up too intimidated by her apparent perfection to make a move on That Girl? If so, you'll have no trouble relating to industry newcomer Kane's brand new single. That's not to say that the ladies should feel left out – female listeners will doubtless get butterflies in their stomachs on hearing Kane and featured artist Ray J pour out their hearts about the special girl who has them utterly enchanted. The Miami native's breathless verses find him rapping over himself (with a little studio help), listing off all his love interest's wonderful qualities, and the emotional effect is heightened by Beat Storm's mellow production, which positively drips with synthesized soul; this romantic cut will have all the men pining for, and all the ladies wanting to be That Girl.
