JD Preston's musical background extends back to his first memories of sitting along side his father at the piano as he played all the old jazz standards. By the age of 6, he was well on his way to not only following in his father's footsteps, but establishing an exceptional path of his own. Although the standards and Top 40 radio kept him interested for a while, his creativity and desire to create his own music began to surface in the few short years following. My the age of 12, JD's first original song, "I Can't Stop Loving You", made its natural way into the memories of close friends and family for years to come.
As he grew, so did the consuming requests for his music. A true entertainer, JD's live presence was favored by his classmates, teachers, friends, and family. He soon took to encore performances wherever he could find the opportunity, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of comfortable musical camaraderie. Countless pianos and rooms hold the memories and stories of JD's first performances. Although most of his true talent came in the form of solo work, his past also includes creative songwriting and performances for the Toledo-based band, Fusion Theory.
JD's songs are inspired by not only personal experiences, but more so by his intuitive ability to relate, interpret, and connect to the emotions of others. True to others' compassions, he draws in people of all ages and genres, from aspiring young entertainers to earning the respect of accomplished performers and fellow musicians.
To date, JD's portfolio of original work includes 13 original songs. His style has been long-time compared to such artists as Steven Tyler, Lionel Richie, and most often Jon Bon Jovi. His charisma, passion, and ability to mesmerize an audience leaves each person feeling that each word was written especially for them. His songs envelop the listener, always leaving the audience longing for more. The dramatic story lines, intertwined with well-written piano harmonies, ensure his songs will linger long after the song ends.
