Going to lunch with friends, museums, art galleries, plays, movies, working out, hiking, biking, canoeing, music, painting, drawing, traveling, nature, sewing, crafts
Alternative, trance, house, techno, hip hop, rap, rock, world beat, metal, punk, blues, jazz, classical. Would like to explore opera too. Reggae and country don't affect me much for some reason. SOME FAVORITE MUSICIANS are Tom Petty, Alberta Hunter, Alanis Morissette, Linkin Park, Green Day, Pink, Cornershop, Coldplay, the Cranberries, U2, Zucchero, Billy Joel and Aretha Frankin. FAVORITE SOUNDTRACKS: My Fair Lady, Camelot, Flashdance, Fame. FAVORITE CDS: Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, Meteora & Minutes to Midnight (Linkin Park), Highway Companion (Tom Petty), Jagged Little Pill (Alanis Morissette), Downhearted Blues (Alberta Hunter), Graceland (Paul Simon). FAVORITE SONGS: Thank U & Everything (Alanis Morissette), Bleed It Out & What I've Done (Linkin Park), One (Mary J. Blige & U2), Grace (U2), The Lady is a Tramp (Lena Horne), Stars (Cranberries), The Hardest Part (Coldplay), Beautiful Day (U2), Man in the Mirror (Michael Jackson), Just Another Day in Paradise (Phil Collins), WOG (Western-Oriental-Going-Full-Circle) & Brimful of Asha (Cornershop), Bridge Over Troubled Water (Aretha Franklin), Greatest Love of All (Whitney Houston), The Power of the Dream (Celine Dion).
Enjoy comedy, adventure, sci-fi and historical movies. Some favorites: My Fair Lady, Legally Blonde, The Matrix, Mississipi Masala, Intimate Strangers, Roger & Me, Being There, Being John Malkovich, When Harry Met Sally, Dogma, Ghostbusters, My Cousin Vinnie, There's Something About Mary, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Dances with Wolves, Stand and Deliver, Seven Years in Tibet, Groundhog Day, Arthur, All of Me, Desperately Seeking Susan, State and Main, Luther, The Last Emperor, Gladiator, Alexander.
Almost never watch TV. Probably would listen to MTV or VH1 or whatever, broadcasts from other countries, PBS, the comedy channel and the history channel if I did.
Zillions of geek programming books, Wall Street Journal and New York Times (I know, those aren't books but they're as close as I can get timewise). I have to read a lot in my field -- unfortunately there's little time to read non-geek books. Occasionally I get time to read Buddhist and Hindu philosophy books (rely on the Dhammapada and need to explore the Upanishads and the Gita). I'll read anything by a Buddhist nun named Pema Chodron. When I had time to "pleasure read" I loved Faulkner, Steinbeck, Shakespeare, Camus, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker ... I enjoy the classics.
My grandfather, Jean Caumont; Marie Curie; Grace Hopper; Maya Angelou and Oprah Winfrey
