HOW IT ALL BEGAN:
Jeannie Niokos, (a.k.a. Ev) is a Toronto-based band with a Big Fat International appeal. They were founded in 1999 by Niokos to record and release the debut instrumental CD Evolution where two songs were licensed and performed live in the mega hit film, My Big Fat Greek Wedding by bouzouki virtuoso Nick Kutsukos.
THE MUSIC:
Evolution is an award winning body of work based on traditional Greek folk rhythms with classical, jazz and urban influences. Described at times as a musical marriage between the piano and the bouzouki, the added flute, soprano saxophone, bass, percussion and drums, transports it into a style and sound Niokos enjoys calling Contemporary Greek.
