James Taylor, Paul Simon, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Don Mclean, ..... all those classic folk/rock guys in the 60's. I grew up hearing that stuff and I thought a man with a guitar could change the world.
Sounds Like
James Taylor, Kenny Rankin in my head ... but you know how that is!
Brought up in a musical household, I took to music early. Steered into folk music by my father at the end of the folk boom of the 60's, I was influenced by 'newcomers' like Don Maclean, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon as well as the older generation like Pete Seeger.
I was fortunate enough to co-write with Michael Fix a song for Slim Dusty's historic 'Looking Forward, Looking Back' CD which went double platinum. That song was later recorded by Cat Southern and nominated for a People's Choice Award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
In 2008, I was a finalist in the Dolphin Awards for Best Jazz Song with "Blame it on the Moon'.
I enjoy experimenting with jazz sounds but remain true to my 'folky' roots. I play guitar, banjo and ukulele.
'Always on My Mind' is a fine and sturdy song. Reminds me of the songs of our mis-spent [wasted] youth. I think this reclamation of your folkie roots is a good thing. Gary
I think 'The Evening Song' actually has a Bing Crosby vibe to it. I can imagine he and Dorothy Lamour doing a duet while Bob Hope is scheming to separate them.
Hey there, Here's one from left field... Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat? A while back I came across some very disturbing information, which inspired me to make this video: Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4 Both artistic (ensure you've good enough sound to enjoy the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice. Though the source materials are somewhat aged, the fundamentals remain relevant today. I encourage all to visit the YouTube web page above to learn more (Show your support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly re-post and circulate as widely as possible. Help to raise awareness. Say have you checked out my web site (http://www.faberoptime.com) recently? Take care and keep in touch. Best, Faber. "Just a guy trying to make the world a better place."

'Goodbye Dreams' - Clearly you're channeling Irving Berlin :o) I tip my hat to your efforts to single-handedly bring back this style of songwriting - everything old is new again ;o) Gary
