The Jeff Herr Corporation
The Jeff Herr Corporation was formed in December 2003 in Maastricht by the luxemburgish drummer Jeff Herr (*1980), assembling some of the best young upcoming musicians from the region. Formally known as the “Jeff Herr Funk Corporation » (performances at the “ Jazz Rallye Luxemburg ”, “ Arts à Beaufort “, “ Festival de Clervaux “…), the band got a new identity, being reduced to a 4tet and, what is most important, playing a repertoire that mainly consists of original compositions by Jeff Herr and the rest of the band. The art of improvisation is their collective aim and leads them to new experiments with Jazz, fusioning the jazz harmonies with modern grooves and sounds. Long and wild experimental solos, but also clear-structured and arranged songs belong to the band’s repertoire. The style of the band could be described as Fusion or Electric-Funk Jazz, the attitude and the approach of the band’s music is « Jazz », played with the help of electronics and effects, using today’s grooves and beats.
In July 2004 the band signed with the Waltzing-Parke Records Label (WPR) and recorded their first CD which was officially released on the 14th January 2005 in the « Atelier », Luxemburg. The CD is being distributed all over Europe (Benelux countries, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, United Kingdom….)
During the years, the Band has toured a lot of different countries (Benelux, Germany, France, Romania..) and performed on prestigious festivals.
Carlo Nardozza (*1982) is THE upcoming Trumpet player from the Belgium, where he plays in different band settings, from small combo to Big Band. He is also known for his Carlo Nardozza Quintet in which Tom Van Acker (*1978) plays Bass. Tom is one of the busiest Bass players in Maastricht at the moment, playing as strong on the Acoustic Bass as on the E-Bass. Joonas Lorenz (*1978) is an experimenting Rhodes and Synthesizer player, who integrates today’s sounds and samples in his play and who is also active in writing and performing electronic music.
The members of the band are all graduated or former students from the Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands.
The band’s line-up:
Carlo Nardozza (I/B)
Trumpet
Joonas Lorenz (D)
Fender Rhodes, Synthesizers
Tom Van Acker (B)

Jeff Herr (L)
Drums
Born on the 3rd of July 1980 in Luxembourg Jeff Herr began his musical studies in 1991 in the "Conservatoire de Luxembourg", with lessons of Solfege, Classical Percussion, Drums, Latin Percussion, Harmony and Piano. He stayed until 2001, having graduated in Solfege (Premier Prix) and Drums (Premier Prix and Prix Supérieur). From 2001 to 2005, he was a student at the Conservatorium Maastricht, department Jazz and Pop Music, with Drums as main subject. Besides that he also followed pedagogic and methodic classes to obtain a music teacher diploma for Drum set. He graduated successfully in 2005.
Jeff has studied with Guy Frisch, Al Ginter, Rainer Kind, Ron Van Stratum and Arnoud Gerritse and followed master classes with Nippy Noya, Changuito, Phil Maturano and many more…
Besides his musical studies, Jeff has played in many bands from early age on: With 12 he started in his first band, a rock cover band, which unfortunately never had the honor to perform on a live gig. Before moving to his next band, VIII Ball, a Crossover group, he performed in several percussion ensembles as well as in a "Fanfare" Orchestra. Between 1995 and 1996, VIII Ball had a few live gigs, but the band split after the singer had left the country to live in the United States.
From 1998 until 2000 he played with Tongue XII, another Hardcore-Rap band. In 2000 they recorded a CD in Frankfurt which was never released because the band, again, split. By that time, Jeff decided to become a professional musician and so he started to play in a lot of different bands as a hired sideman, in the aim of getting more experience (Still at Large, Indian Summer, Baby Chams, Peenuts, Remo and Band, Leana Sealy Quintet …). In 2000 he joined the Rock Band "Tweed" and appeared with them on 2 CDs and 1 Compilation. They stayed together until 2003. Meanwhile Jeff got more interested into Jazz and Funk music.
Since 2001, he performed in a lot of Jazz settings in the Benelux with musicians as Pascal Schumacher, Marc Demuth, David Laborier, Jitz Jeitz, Greg Lamy, Ernie Hammes, Pascal Mohy, Jef Neve, Christophe Devischer or Joachim Badenhorst and players from the Maastricht-Limburg region. Jeff is also a co-founder from the spectacular percussion and DJ group "Stroke X". In 2003 he joined the Funk-Soul Cover band "Funx Force Five", an upcoming show-band from Aachen, Germany, as well as the Hip-Hop group "The Gentles", Luxembourg's breakthrough artists from 2003. In the same year he decided to form his own band, the Jeff Herr Corporation, with musicians that he had met in Maastricht: Carlo Nardozza, Trumpet; Joonas Lorentz, Fender Rhodes and Synthesizers; Tom Van Acker, Basses.
In July 2004 the band signed a record deal with the Waltzing-Parke Records (WPR) Label and recorded their 1st CD which was officially released in January 2005.
Since then the band has performed in many different countries, among them the Benelux, France, Germany, Romania...
In 2006, he joined the Soul/R'n'B Band Funky P, who hit the charts in summer 2006 with their debute single "Smile Baby".
During the last years Jeff played on gigs like:
Rock um Knuedler, Luxembourg
Pregroup for Pink, Samy Deluxe, Cypress Hill, Dick Brave, Candy Dulfer, Blues Brothers, Silbermond, Juli ...

To all music friends, we at Syncretic Srl. are desperately looking to put together 5.000 euros to allow Christine Hopper, great Soft Machine’s bass player Hugh Hopper’s wife, to pay for his husband’s funeral.
Hugh died after nearly one year of suffering for leukaemia, leaving his wife Christine and daughter Rosa in a very bad economic situation.
Christine asked for our help and we feel that we have to do all we can to contribute to offer Hugh a last farewell.
Anybody willing to contribute is welcome!!!
The money collected will be given directly to Christine on the 24th of June: as you understand, we haven’t much time left but, in any case, I hope that you will do your best!!! Thanks!
Welcome in the END.'s sphere and very nice to meet you..
