--Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds--and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious burning blue
I've topped the wing-swept heights with ease grace,
Where never lark, or even eagle flew;
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
"You learn very quickly there's no point moaning about the music
business. We have an expression in this band: 'I do believe this was
your chosen profession.' It's our way of saying, 'Shut the fuck up,
you could be driving an ice-cream van.'" — Francis Rossi, Status Quo

It was a chilly fall day when the farmer spied the little sparrow lying on its back in the middle of his field. The farmer stopped his plowing, looked down at the frail, feathered creature and inquired, "Why are you lying upside down like that?" "I heard the sky is going to fall today," replied the bird. The old farmer chuckled. "And I suppose your spindly little legs can hold up the sky?" "One does what one can," replied the plucky sparrow.

Hey Jeff! Did you happen to see the episode of legends and lyrics that featured Susan Tedeschi and Kip Winger? It was just on pbs last night here. No bands, just songwriter in the round kind of thing. Susan mainly played her turquoise tele, with what looked like her fender amp with 4 tens, probably a deville? Anyways, they were both terrific! I don't remember the other guys name, though he is a grammy winning songwriter. Great show.
