Jeff Large describes himself as “simple”, but his musicianship displays a distinctive underlying complexity. His solo guitar and vocals do provide a straightforward address—he purposefully and passionately tells his story without trying to impress—and the result is a powerful energy that, as Frenz Coffee House owner Rich Zeck proclaims, will “rattle the soul and wake up your senses.” Jeff’s “simplicity” gives way to vitalizing performances that invite his listeners to consider the deeper questions of life. With over a decade of songwriting under his belt, and experience in a variety of performance venues, Jeff has developed a mature stage presence. His vivacious interaction with his listeners makes him a highly requested artist and “a hit with the young and the old alike” (Rich Zeck). Jeff plays instinctively—strumming guitar chords the way an accomplished poet plays with language—and his sound cannot be adequately compared to any other artist. Bowing to no particular style or methodology, Jeff is, in his words, motivated primarily by a desire “to help people step out of the fast pace of life and think about more.” “A talented performer, Jeff writes touching songs that relate to his life and spirituality” (Chris Andrus, producer/engineer, Mackinaw Harvest Music). Jeff’s first solo album, Simple Thoughts for a Short Journey, is, like its author, more than “simple.” Once you hear him, you get the point: short or long, any journey into Jeff’s music is worthwhile.
Jeff Large and in charge! I only got to catch a minute of your set at the EARTH DAY FEST but my brother told me he really dug on your sound... he even swiped my copy of your cd!!!
Hey Jeff Large... do you need a chimpanzee bongo player? the economy ain't what it used to be.... and it's kinda hard for a chimp that served a little time in the John Ball Zoological Penitentiary to get a fair shake....
Hey Jeff! I agree it was really good seeing you at the Score. Well things are going. I'm moving into a new apartment in the next couple of weeks. But other than that just working. How about you? I like your music. You have always been so talented:)
the Earth Day gig is gonna rock! If you can learn "10 little monkeys jumping on the bed" in time you should sit in on my set! i'm gonna try to make it to the Mancino's gig if the Health Dept doesn't give me crap about being an "animal" in an establishment that serves food.... fascists!!!
We are ever so grateful for your journey down our winding road of rock.
