Jeff! I've been thinking about you so much lately, for a number of reasons: it's about that time for you to visit NYC; and I've been listening to Spoons remix album. Fucking great. Seriously. I love it. Ive been working on our new home (in St. Louis - yep, we moved) and have listened to it over and over as I paint and scrape, etc. THANK you so much for your amazing music.
I know St. Louis pales in comparison to NYC, but you are welcome to visit us anytime! I need to see ya soon! Maybe NYC in February? Erin has a show, I think the 7th, so maybe then? talk soon.
Spread over two nights in Dublin's Twisted Pepper, with artists from Norway, Paris, Denmark, Dublin, Estonia and London, The Bottlenote Festival 2009 is a major event for improvised music in Ireland.
The festival showcases the work of Bottlenote musicians
and promotes collaborative practice between Irish jazz musicians and
their European counterparts, providing audiences with an exciting
snapshot of the best new improvised music both across Europe and here
in Ireland.
Thank you Jeff for approving me. Now I'd like to tell you how i came along to you. Back on few years ago, briefly after moving to Ireland, one friday afternoon after work I passed by Tower store, and noticed the window promoting "Spoons", then I thought "New solo album by Jeff Martin, frontman of IDAHO?..." Then I got in store to have a listen, I looked like a bricky in the wrong work place... anyway by listening to the album I was very satisfied, and thought "yeah the mood is a bit happier but it's still the Jeff I know, and his baritonal-voice is unique..." so I bought the album, then at home I noticed McEntire on the credits, which looked again familiar in geographical terms. Then sometime later, I discovered the truth, cause there wasn't any mention on IDAHO website. Anyway I wasn't disappointed and attended few of your shows and liked a lot too...
Thank you for listening this amusing story and wish you have a nice day!
oh really? a fun night? what did you do? ;) I have 'befriended' you but have really moved onto bigger and better things such as facebook (yeah, I know, music-wise this is bigger and better) so.. yeah.. not so much here anymore.
