Sounds Like
Something you would NEVER find in a best buy store cd rack.
I began to work with my guitar in prepared form back in 1996 after reading about Jim O'Rourke in Guitar Player Magazine who was being interviewed about his "Remove the Need" cd of prepared guitar compositions. After that I remember reading about Derek Bailey and how he would do all kinds of crazy things with a guitar. So I decided to give it a try. I went into the living room where my Mother had a nice personal handheld fan. I grabbed it along with a nice brass bookmark that has a beautiful ringing tone to it. Along with springs and alligator clips and a couple screwdrivers. Took them back into my bedroom, plugged in the guitar into my Digitech RP-1 and set it ready to loop as much as it could...which wasn't much. Only about a second and a half. I had just recently learned how to do sound on sound with it like Robert Fripp was doing, and set about to get my first prepared guitar improvisation done. It turned out to be an 18 minute long journey in sounds that I had NEVER heard before in my life.
And life has never been the same since...
I have recorded about three cd's worth of prepared guitar work before I hung up the guitar for a paintbrush. But lately i've been getting back into it as I have been building my studio for my electronic dance music. I realized the other day that I can use my studio as the looping instrument I have been longing for and in the future will get back to my improvisations.
Thank you very much for da Link Up & Sharing the music Nice to meet you through cyberlink! Keep up da Great Work! Wishes you All da Best in 2009! Enjoy your Week!
Hi Jeffery, Yes, we have about 6 CDs worth of material mostly mastered, it's the graphic design and money for printing that's slowing us down. Thanks for listening! -Al
Hi Jeffrey, I appreciate your kind words you have left on my site. I see you are a fan of Dan Stearns, I used to take guitar lessons from him way back in 1990. Thanks again, Rick
