About me:
- I am a professional drummer and have been playing for 18 years
- While in Boston I attended and graduated from Berklee College of Music. I made a bunch of great friends, and played a ton with different school and profesional groups. I studied with some amazing people, who's encouragement continue to inspire me.
- I have performed all over the US and abroad with jazz, major label rock, indie rock, singer/songwriters, symphony orchestras, big bands, latin groups, funk groups..etc.
What I like:
- Professionaly I'm inspired by people who are honest and passionate about their work, whatever that work may be...
- I like performing with people who have big energy and soul, and aren't afraid to push the music...
- I'm musically inspired by drummers like; Art Blakey, Ari Hoenig, Brian Blade, Bill Stewart, JR Robinson, Steve Gadd, and Russ Miller, as well as non-drummers like; Joni Mitchell, Van Gogh, Monet, Monk, Donny Hathaway, Tom Waits, Elliott Smith, and many more..
- Favorite sounding bands are Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, anything with Brian Blade, Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Brad Mehldau...
I've already performed with some great musicians in Chicago, and look forward to working with more. Particularly I'd like to thank Chris Greene, Ted Sirota, Eric Koppa, Emily White, Tommi Zender, and Dan Nicholson for their support and for inviting the new guy to perform with them. Looking forward to more work with these, and many more of Chicago's finest!
Jeff! Thanks for the add! I'm going to put tracks up soon. I'll let you know. I wrote all the parts on the bass! Fun fun fun! Oh, I have new tracks on my main page- www. myspace. com/ianrapien. Straight ahead on that one. Talk to you soon! Ian
JEFF! Happy Halloween! WEll, you know what I mean, although I suppose that if other people read this, they might think think that it's a very dated comment. So, to those of you that it applies, piss off! Anyways, what's good? Finally got my myspace account back (don't ask, I changed the password while I was drunk, and hell if I could remember it!) How's the windy city? Are you busy showing them that Wyoming-ites can play? Good for you! Get back to me sniffycakes, Ian

Okay so aparently there is a change of plans, Chris forgot to tell me he has people from Japan coming in this week and he is in charge of their visit.... looks like we will be planning a get-away sometime later. Bummer. I was totally looking forward to seeing you next weekend. We will come see you sometime in the near future I'm sure!
It took me a second to figure it out, but I did find a couple of tickets to the Bulls vs. Wizards game that night of the 5th and I would be stoked to come watch you. If the weather cooperates, there's a good chance I'll be rockin' out to you and your motley crew! Screw the b-ball game, I'm there for the band! ;)
You going to be in town next weekend? Chris and I are thinking about coming up for a "child free get-away" and we'd love to see you and Erin. Let me know what you've got going on. I see you're playing on the 5th (probably something exclusive) and I'd love to see you in action..... I would be so lucky. Send me your digits!
