Since about 1993, I have been playing music in various bands (mainly Bass and saxophone). In 2002 I decided to pick up the guitar again, which also inspired me to start writing songs again. In the beginning of this songwriting, I wrote comedy numbers, which were mainly what I was playing at the time in the band the GooKnees. Growing tired of perverted humor and the genre I created called "poop songs," I began to attempt to write songs that were more on the "serious" side of life (not to say that the humorous songs weren't taken seriously). Since these new songs did not quite fit in with what the band I was playing in, I began to play open mics with my acoustic guitar (especially at the music venue I worked at, Java Jims). In 2003 I moved from LaPorte, Indiana to Bloomington, Indiana, where at first I knew very few musicians. With the lack of a band to play in, I began to write and record music on my own. This is basically when this project that you are hearing started. At the few shows that I played at between 2003-04, I reverted to playing many of the humorous songs at drunken parties. This is when I first met Tom Denning, who offered me the chance to play at numerous parties at Joe McCadden's house (who was also a member with Tom in the band Metal in the Microwave). I think I creeped everyone out for the most part at the shows with my renditions of the song I co-write for the GooKnees "The Tossed Salad Ballad," as well as many others. To make a long story short, in January of 2006 I ended up joining Metal in the Microwave, playing bass. After my joining of the microwave, I was still persistent in recording songs in my apartment (talked about in the song "Jim Jones") on my computer and an 8 track. However, my live performance since this time has been mainly devoted to the band. I am starting to play open mics again, and I plan to start seeking gigs soon. In June 2006 I released my debut collection of songs, A Quiet Night in a Hectic Space, playing guitar, tenor and soprano saxophone, and a little keys and percussion. I am currently working on my second solo album, which is more band oriented, with more gritty rock n roll, than A Quiet Night. Thanks for listening.
