He bought a bass for 15 pounds in 1986 but didn't play it anywhere near enough until 2001 when he then bought a better one. Meanwhile he had distracted himself with the guitar, an Atari ST and the piano. He studied music at Bristol University and emerged as a 'qualified' composer but as a result of a lack of specific career opportunities, failed to really make anything worth listening to until recently. Now, he is imbued with a new-found confidence, armed with bass skills and a voice untouched by cigarette smoke for just over a week. His latest compositions have been instrumental and try to summarise the vast array of influences and interests he as accrued.
Jeff has played with Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, Geoffrey Oryema, Michael Giles (King Crimson), Elliott Randall (guitarist on Reeling In The Years!) John Etheridge, James Morton, Melanie Gabriel, Skankt, Sam Holmes, Nik Young, Emily Breeze, Rich Pollott, EMF, Helele, Scuba, Saskatoon, Alex Hutchings, Jimmy Goodrich and many others.
The tunes you can hear were composed and recorded by Jeff in Bristol, UK with some fantastic musicians - Daisy Palmer on drums, Jerry Crozier-Cole on guitar, Rebecca Nash on piano, Jake and Pete from The Blessing (on "31") James Gardiner-Bateman on Alto ("Fruity Bikoutsi") and loads of other talents.
