Jeff Stanek (b. 1984), originally from Madison, Wisconsin, is a graduate student at
Indiana University, where he earned a Bachelors of Music with High Distinction in 2006.
He has studied composition with

Claude Baker,
P.Q. Phan,
Chinary Ung, and
Stephen Dembski.
He is the recipient of two BMI Student Composer Awards (2003 Carlos Surinach Prize, 2005), the Victor Herbert ASCAP Young Composers Award from the National Federation of Music Clubs (2008), first prize in the CEMJKO International Electroacoustic Music Contest (2006), and a Dean's Prize from Indiana University (2003), plus several other awards.
Festivals featuring recent or upcoming performances of his music include
