American Top Team Member, Jeff Monson, is one of the worlds top submission grapplers and is coming into his own at the highest level of Mixed Martial Arts. At 5'9" tall and 245lbs of solid muscle and at 37 years of age he is taking both sides of the ocean by storm in MMA. He is one of the most recognized MMA athletes in the UK and after his electrifying submission of the night win over the very capable Brandon Lee Hinkle at UFC 57 in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Events Center people are now taking notice of Jeff in the MMA scene across the world. His mma record of 26 wins and 8 losses include 16 wins by submission. His fans the world over just witnessed him choke out and put Brandon Lee Hinkle to sleep on the biggest PPV event ever staged by the UFC live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on February 4th, 2006. Monson, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is already a major force in submission grappling. He won the prestigious Abu Dhabi Submission Grappling World Tournament Heavy Weight Division in 2005 and also won his division in the tournament in 1999. He is a multiple event winner at NAGA and Grapplers Quest and the Budweiser Invitational where he continues to compete. Jeff also won the first Fila World Grappling Championship in Turkey in 2007 and won the Mundial No-Gi Absolute championship in 2007 as well. Bottomline, Monson is a competitor ready to challenge or accept a challenge from anyone in the world. Ok,... So where did the nickname "The Snowman" come from? The Brazilian Fighters gave him the nickname back in 1999 at Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Grappling Tournament. He came in as an unknown but beat 4 Brazilians in a row to win the title. Each guy was more difficult than the previouis guy. As he went along in the tournament continuing to beat his opponents they said he was like a snowball (white, compact, and rolling and getting bigger and stronger as the tournament went on). Then wouldn't you know it... it then was translated into "Snowman" and it stuck. So that is the story. .. ..
