Jeffrey moved to San Francisco in 1998, to escape the suburbs of San Diego's east county and make a name for himself as a fashion designer. . . shortly after arriving he abandon fashion to be the front man for the classical ensemble The Calculators. “Always a step ahead… they wore uniforms and modernized the sound of groups like Gary Numan and The Tubeway Army, long before anyone had heard of electroclash;” to quote ID magazine. Two years, two records, and too many tours later, they split allowing him to finish a degree in fashion at SFSU and the others to form The Rapture, the now acclaimed dance-punk originators.
After graduating he was directionless and disenchanted with SF's rigid music scene and disappearing fashion industry. He found a job as a record store clerk (Open Mind Music) and soon after taste maker Jefrodisiac was born. A few months later he created his first and now legendary Booty Bassment event hosting some the first multi-genre gatherings ever in San Francisco.
Better things followed like Frisco Disco, Blow Up and 1994. Jeffrey takes his fun attitude and pushes things forward by hand picking his favorite artists like Justice, Interpol, Chromeo, Glass Candy, !!!, Steve Aoki, DJ Funk, Uffie, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs to preform. He has relatively quickly become the most exciting and notable figure in the city.
Early on he gained respect and recognition in the critical world of dance music. Bookings with House music legends like Juan Atkins (Model 500), Marshal Jefferson, Felix da Housecat, J. Sale Kane, Ben Watt (Everything But The Girl), etc; plus, numerous performances at the WMC, Coachella, and SXSW with contemporary greats like DJ Hell, The Rapture, ADULT., DJ AM, LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, Prince Paul, 2 Many DJs, etc., further states that he is in a league with the best of the best; past, present and future.
Not satisfied with performance alone, Jeffrey’s other musical projects include the Paradise Boys. With a few sold out shows and two 12” singles, they have gained attention from the press, their peers, and music fans all over the world as the “band to look out for”-SPIN; “Paradise Boys weigh in with a stellar track and smoking remixes”-URB; “best Bay Area band”-Filter; “stand out tracks”-Fader; “crisp, smooth, mildly petulant, definitely sleazy, and utterly irresistible on the dance floor”-SF Weekly.
Jeffrey’s vision, open mindedness and sense of adventure makes his sets mind blowing and memorable to both the dance and rock music scenes internationally. Get into him.
