  • Bio

Jehan Khoorshed’s first album is the result of hundreds of live performances along the Toronto-Montreal corridor. The Ottawa native prides himself on his diversity and the album reflects this; his sound falls somewhere in that vast gray area between country and rock ‘n’ roll. With influences ranging from Hank Williams to Otis Redding, from George Harrison to Steve Earle, his music takes in all the groove and inspiration from the last 60 years of rock, country, folk and soul and turns out a unique brand. Althoug at times biting and sarcastic (particularly when dealing with former lovers), Jehan’s lyrics can also be reflective and deeply poetic. His self-titled debut album sets a variety of moods. There is the bittersweet country balad “Jodessa”; the lusty honky-tonk stomper “Back In My Bed”; the dreamy soundscape of “Second Harvest”; and the tender spirituality of “Won’t Be Home”. Jehan is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

  • Influences

I love pretty much all the classics - it started with the Beatles and went from there. Biggest influences on songwriting have been Michael Nesmith (yes, the Monkee, but you should hear his solo stuff), Lyle Lovett (go figure) and Mr. George Harrison. Right now I'm pretty into Gilbert O'Sullivan, although that's pretty far-out. Brian Wilson. And Sam Cooke has about the prettiest voice I've ever heard on a dead guy.
