   About Rumi
Dear Friends, I have created this page because of my love for Rumi and the music of Deepak Chopra. I welcome anyone who is also a fan and anyone who finds interest in the two. I am not Deepak Chopra, I am merely a fan that wants to share his wonderful work and the poems of Rumi :)

I have included an excerpt about Rumis' life that has been wonderfully written by Shahram Shiva. If you would like to read more visit Shiva's website:
www.Rumi.net Or visit his myspace page v v v v v v

Rumi was born on the Eastern shores of the Persian Empire in 1207 (in the city of Balkh in what is now Afghanistan), and finally settled in the town of Konya, in what is now Turkey. His life story reads like a fairy tale. A charming noble man, a genius theologian, a brilliant sober scholar, meets a wandering and wild "holy man" by the name of Shams, and almost overnight is transformed. It seems that the universe brought these two opposing characters together to remind us for eternity that it is never what you expect when it comes to personal transformation. It is impossible to know where your next inspiration may come from or who will become the conduit for your transformation. For Rumi the life of mystics is a "gathering of lovers, where there is no high or low, smart or ignorant, no proper schooling required." Rumi and his spiritual friend Shams left an undying legacy of the way-of-the-heart and creativity triumphing over pure, cold logic.
(Excerpt from Shahram Shiva's book Hush Don't Say Anything to God: Passionate Poems of Rumi

Rumi, the 13th century Persian mystic poet, has been called the greatest mystical poet of any age. During a period of 25 years, he composed over 70,000 verses of poetry -- poetry of divine love, mystic passion and ecstatic illumination. Scholars of his work today believe that Rumi is one of the greatest poets of all time, and that his work is comparable to that of Dante and Shakespeare

Rumi's work has been translated into many of the world's languages including Russian, German, French, Italian and Spanish, and is appearing in a growing number of formats including concerts, workshops, readings, dance performances and other artistic creations

Hello Rumi ~
Photobucket
I know not what you believe in God, but I believe He gave yearnings and longings to be filled, and that He did not mean all our time should be devoted to feeding and clothing the body.
(Lucy Stone)

MY HEART IS CERTAIN OF ITS GOOD

Photobucket

I am optimistic. I choose to believe and expect the emergence of the best. I enjoy the day I am given and I eagerly anticipate the future. I am alert to negative thinking and I do not allow it to cloud my perceptions. Knowing the unstoppable power of God, I am realistic about people and events but I am optimistic about positive outcomes, positive change. I invite actualizing grace to enter and act in all my affairs, alchemizing difficulty into opportuntiy.

Love,
*Lisa*

 They Did Their Share

On Veteran’s Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.
Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some it’s been many years;
In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.
Some came back; some didn’t.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.
No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.
Let every veteran be honored;
Don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we can’t repay.
We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Let’s say "thank you" to every wearer.
