Occasionally a band will arrive without hype and will allow the music to speak for itself. With strong lyrics and a sincere collection of tunes, which display a kind of emotion rarely captured in modern rock, Melbourne act Borne, have completed this pretty picture with their album Loss of Signal. Fronted by Cameron Tapp, Borne releases its debut through Jellyfish/MGM to an international audience watching every move they make and waiting with baited breath for its birth now upon us.
After forming four years ago, Borne headed to Byron Bay in the summer of 2004 to lay down tracks in Studio 301 under the guidance of ARIA nominated producer Michael Stangel. What resulted was a beautifully electric and brutally honest mélange of songs stemming from the lowest points of agonizing loneliness to the celebration highlights of love and peaceful grounding. The album, Cam says, “sounds like a plea for help after losing your way but is also very much a vision of hope”, a confession that is hard to admit but also relieving in its recorded disclosure.
And now with the release of their first full-length album, Loss of Signal, Borne reveals the raw flow of emotion cascading through the music from the very first to the last track on the record. It grabs you from the start in the most emotionally sensitive part of your being.
The whirlwind of success for Borne now brings them to the Australian release of their album and their national and international touring trail. Loss of Signal is an amazing record of distinctive emotional ups and downs. It digs deep into the anguish, heartache, and definitively soaring sensations of life, love and human existence.
After his highly successful run on Australian Idol, Dan England has created a remarkable story by honing his songs and playing to tens of thousands of people in towns and cities across Australia. The tour is taking in on average 5 gigs per week, traveling to every state and territory in Australia.
the “Dan England - A year on the Road” tour saw Dan spending much of 2007/2008 on the road playing a record number of live shows. This record breaking run has so far spanned over 168 shows in just over 230 days, including sold out large auditoriums to intimate acoustic shows. Beginning in November 2007, the tour has already had its share of rave reviews and is setting a grueling pace that would test the steeliness of any seasoned performer.
Dan England has travelled the highways with his band, meeting and playing to people in all walks of life. His Idol success was left behind for a road journey involving a genuine connection with people across the country, and a genuine willing to play great music night in and night out.
Dan’s band – ‘The Thieves’ – is a powerful rock group playing tracks from his new EP “The Deconstruction of Dan England”. This Ep involved Dan collaborating alongside renown producers Jeff Lang and Michael Stangel to form a new sound and direction. This originally inspired Dan to put his own band together (‘the Thieves’) and hit the road to tour the new recording the old fashioned way.
Dan’s voice is powerful. Alongside a great band playing fantastic songs – this is a live show that will lift you and be sure leave you wanting more. Make sure you get a chance to meet Dan in person and hear the songs that are sure to break him on Australian radio in the coming year.
