At 35, Jem already has years of musical ability under his belt. After reaching grade 5 in piano and musical theory, he picked up a guitar at age 13. This has been his weapon of choice ever since, from his first band at 17 (Not With a Bang) through to Blade Chain (300 live dates, 1000 album sales through Andys Records and gigs and popular tees) and beyond. At 21 Jem developed an affinity to the bass, but as he was already on lead vocals and acoustic guitar in Blade Chain and reincarnation Faith, the four string was left to his brother Simon in both bands.
Always writing original tracks, Jem has been gigging around the South from an age when he couldnt even get a drink from the bar afterwards. Rekindling his love for the bass, Jem joined Blah Blah for a year in the late 90s. He has since played party music regularly with The Flintstones til 2004
A music tutor both privately and in schools, Jem has continued to write original songs with his brother mixing and producing. The fruit of his labours is out now, the debut solo album Brand New Star (available from CD-wow or direct), blending genres similar to that of acoustic favourite David Gray made stronger with powerful rock vocals. Some tracks mellow piano based ballads, some full band backed sessions, Brand New Star has something for everyone.
Jem is currently performing in "untouchable" (3 piece covers band - www.untouchableband.co.uk),

Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to the UK in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. I figured that with you being a musician that you would really be able to appreciate this show. Kevin made a little video at my studio last week while we were recording....check it out http://myspacetv. com/index. cfm?fuseaction=vids. individual&videoid=34589518
There are a series of shows in England and Scotland....dates are on my myspace.
We won't be doing my material, but it is a really special show, and Tommy is a true rock'n'roll legend.
Anyway, take care and hope to see you there.
