Hello. My name is Jemma. You may have guessed already. I'm a singer- songwriter, play guitar and singaroo. All the songs on my page I have written and performed apart from Gav Huck's remix of Monday. Edd Bateman plays bass on 'Alone' 'Once my love' and 'Lover'
I'm from Bristol and love this city like a woman loves a ummm city; I grew up here in brizzle but was born in London and spent time there at college and university. I've also lived in Plymouth, Devon but am now back in Bristol, and loving it.
I also sometimes do collaborations with people (hip-hop, trip-hop, house, dnb, jazz, ambient tracks etc), providing lyrics/melody and vocals, if that's your thang get in touch ya?

"Former member of Bristol band 'Slow', singer-songwriter Jemma... is already making a name for herself on the acoustic circuit. With a unique, hauntingly powerful voice that fosters raw emotion, Jemma has audiences captivated instantly. "
"...Now that Jemma Rycroft, she definitely, definitely has a soulful voice... Her songs are pop ballads of personal tales “I Keep My Curtains Closed” is in the best traditions of British female balladeers without the affected twang “genuine accents” of some who are earning rather more than her. If there’s any justice in this world Jemma will be plucked from the (relative) obscurity of Plymouth and whisked away to a Radio 1 studio for a live session soon..."

THIS JUST IN! JEMMA HAS BEEN OFFERED A RECORD DEAL AND IS CURRENTLY IN NEGOTIATIONS...!
Jemma Rycroft, bringing the Sexy-Acoustic-Lounge style back to form...
Fusing an unexpected mix of 50's style Jazz, Blues and Acoustic Pop, Jemma's self-penned tunes are crafted to bring out her uniquely sultry voice. With local BBC radio airplay, festivals and gigs aplenty under her belt, this girl is certainly making her mark.
Jemma has supported Dawn Kinnard (of Jools Holland), Rosie and the Goldbug (of awesomeness), Kill it Kid, The Saw Doctors, 3 daft Monkeys, Martha Tilston, Chris Letcher, Yes Sir Boss and many many more. She's played venues such as ULU, The Louisiana, Powers Acoustic Room, Ashton Court Festival, The Acoustic Gathering, The Hub Exeter, Annabels Cabaret, Exeter's Vibraphonic Fesitval, The Hub Plymouth, The Refectory, Mr Wolf's, Voodoo Lounge, Komedia Bath.....

Hiya I hope you are ok and have had a good day. Weekend is here again. Comes around so fast doesn't it? Meant to be raining and windy here again this weekend. Luckily we haven't had the floods they have had up north. Had a manic day at work today. Rushed off my feet. Crazy day. Need the weekend to rest up. Got a lot to do actually. More cards to make and reviews to write and shopping to get. Never ending!!!! Take care Sara
Hiya Hope you are ok and having a good day. I was feeling a bit yucky but something happened to brighten my day. I had an email and it lifted my spirits. The sun shone brightly today also so that was a plus! Sara XXX
Hey Jemma! Thanks for the comment. I'm liking your songs I'll have to catch a set some time! I'm next in Bristol on the 14th December at Mr Wolfe's if you're around.
Long periods of boredom, mixed with bits of frantic activity and trying to synchronize schedules with various collaborators. You probably know the drill.
Anyway, we'd have no objection to doing a remix or something with you at some point. See you around.
Jemma darling, it looks like things are really going well for you! That is so awesome, and I can't think of a nicer or more deserving person to have such good fortune! I finally got a job, just a month ago (first time since 2005 that I've been able to work!) and I'm working for a small engineering firm just 25 miles from my home... I'm doing drafting and detailing work for them (using my new-found skills I received my degree in back in May). I'm employee #5, so that should tell you how small the firm is, but they're a wonderful group of people, and they seem to like me. :-) I like how you've posted clips of your performances... I love them! You've got a great talent there in Edd... he can really make that bass sing. Well, I just wanted to stop in and say "Hi"... and hugs to you and Izzy!
I hope you are well and have had a good day. I returned to work today after my 2 days leave. I forgot I had been off within about 5 mins as it was so busy and so hectic. The day did fly by which was nice I guess. After work it was pilates. I love doing that even though I don't think I am that good. Have only done 6 lessons after all so still new really. I want to be better thats all. Been watching telly this evening - catching up on shows. Raining pouring here at the moment and has been since tea time. Take care and hope to hear from you really soon. Sara
Hiya, hope you are ok and have had a good weekend. Where does the time go I ask you? Soon be Monday again and back to work. Not been too nice here today. Raining a lot. I have spent nearly all weekend on my pc. Keeps me busy. Take care Sara XXX
Have a great gig tonight! Wish I could had been there...I had a meeting with my doctor at the hospital yesterday and he told me that I will have a new operation on the 2nd of November. But I'm so nervous because it's a big operation again and hopefully it will go well. I really want my stoma gone...
