Jack White, Neko Case (her songwriting, her harmonies), The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan especially Blonde on Blonde, Muse, Amy Winehouse, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley (that voice), Beck (genius), Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Elvis Presley--The Sun Sessions, Iggy Pop, Leonard Cohen, Sly and The Family Stone, Tracy Chapman, Chrissie Hynde, Johnny Cash, Joan Osbourne, Gov't Mule, Led Zeppelin (who can leave them out?), Patty Griffin (wow), David Bowie in his androgynous phase, Anne Husick's sense of rhythm guitar, Ruth Goodman, and various traditional gospel hymns...
Sounds Like
"Picture Chrissie Hynde fronting a more rootsy version of The Pretenders".
"Fusing the sensibilities of the Rolling Stones with the Ronettes, she and her band manage to be tougher and sexier than either. Nor is the sound really retro. Great rock is timeless, and Jen Elliott makes great rock."
--Hank Bordowitz of Bordowitz Media Werx on Jen's live performance at the Global Entertainment and Media Summit

Bio:
I was raised in Jacksonville, Florida...but I've been in NYC for over 7 years now and my heart is very much here. After hearing a very raw live demo, City Canyons Records gave me a wonderful opportunity and we put out my debut album "The Secret's Out" in 2003. Since then, I've never looked back.
That album received Top 30 college radio airplay and critical acclaim by the press nationwide. The music has been featured in issues of Entertainment Today, The Sun Herald, Inside Connection and Keyboard Magazine. As Jen Elliott & Bluestruck, we performed at the Black Potatoe Festival 2005, NY Auto Show 2005, GoGirls Elite Showcase 2004, headlined at the Global Entertainment & Media Summits 2003/2004, and performed at MEANY Fest 2003...as well as performing at top venues in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We also had a great time opening for the likes of Nils Lofgren, The Little River Band, and Nine Days.
However, I'm especially proud of our second album, "8 Days Down". We did several tours over the east coast to spread the good word. I even had the opportunity to bring the band back to my original hometown in Florida! Much love to all of the fans, podcasters, and radio stations who have supported us...your support for independent music makes a difference.
Now, I'm happy to say that Anne Husick and I have created our very own love-child. A band called "Ninetyfive". I promise you'll be hearing more about that soon.
What did I forget? Oh. When I perform, I exclusively drink Jameson...and I can sing all 50 states in alphabetical order. My "day job" is working at NYC Guitar School, but really it's my other love.
Terrific News....14 of your Orignal tunes were chosen by the new EOS music service for inclusion...Your awesomeness will be heard coast to coast! Check your email ;~) Sher
