About me: I'm Jeni Gray. I finally got a MySpace account for the same reason everyone does...to reconnect with old friends and to hopefully make new ones. Old friends will remember me as Jeni Wooldridge. I live in the great city of Columbus, Ohio with my husband, 3 dogs, and 1 cat, all of whom are adorable. In my free time, I love to read anything related to science, history, philosophy, mythology, and religion. I'm also fascinated with urban legends...where they come from, how they're spread, etc. I'm a card-carrying skeptic, and I question everything. As far as "religion" goes, I'm not a member of any particular group, but my personal philosophy is closest to secular humanism. I have no close friends who share these interests [EDIT: Thankfully this is no longer the case. I've found LOTS of people who share these interests!:D], so I'd love to find intelligent, open-minded people who enjoy discussing philosophy, religion, atheism, history, science, pseudoscience, and the like...and who also like to have fun! Also, no offense to the guys but where are all the ladies? I'd love to meet some more skepchicks!
Who I'd like to meet: Jon Stewart, Mike Rowe, Josh Bernstein, the whole Mythbusters gang (especially Kari), Darren Brown, Carolyn Porco, Jane Goodall, Sam Harris, Dan Dennett, Richard Dawkins, Michael Shermer, James Randi, Phil Plait, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Brian Cox.
Physicist Brian Cox talks about the Large Hadron Collider at CERN-March 2008
..............
Michael Shermer gives a brief talk at the TED Conference on why people believe weird things. (If you haven't read his book by the same title, go read it! It's wonderful!)
More TED videos are available at www.ted.com. There are currently 163 TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) talks on video, and more are being added on a regular basis. No matter what your interests, you will find something fascinating here.
James Randi exposing Uri Geller and Peter Popoff (This one's just plain fun!:D)
..
They actually weren't together at all ... but they were both about 10 wks old when we got them, so it didn't take them long to bond. They've gotten SO much bigger already!
Jen, here's hoping you had a safe (but 'splodey) 4th of July! And if your country doesn't obeserve that holiday, go get some firecrackers (if legal) anyhow! Magnesium and the Attack of the Memes!
Hey girl, how's it going for you? I hope things are going good for you and your other half. Well looks like we missed all the snow and sleet that others had this last night and today. Well I'll let you go have a great night and talk to you soon.
Hey cuz, I was wondering do you know how to name a star after someone? I know you can do something like that but I was wondering if you know anything about that. Oh and just to let you know I am always here for you and dealing with all the health problems and just daily things I go through I have a wonderful open mind. So feel free to ask questions because I won't get offended. Love ya and have a great evening.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours and thanks for the add.
I see you are interested in contemporary legends too. I'm working on a collection of Chinese urban legends I collected while living there. Check out my blog when u have time.
