Jenium started life with two members, Guitarist/Vocalist - Sam and Drummer/Lyricist - Eddie. At this time the band did not have a set name (I.E. Sam and Eddie would change the name on a weekly basis). This changed when Eddie brought in Rhythm Guitarist/Vocalist - Colin and on Bass - Jack (two of Eddie's friends from primary school). Finally, a four-piece boy-band was born! (Of course, we are that musically talented variation of the 'Boy-Band').
As for the creation of songs... the deal used to be that Eddie would write lyrics which Sam would then compose music to and Colin would write his own songs (lyrics and music) which we would all learn and throw in the odd suggestion here and there. However, nowadays the compilation of our material is very much spread out through the band; Eddie and Colin share lyrical ideas and the music combines the minds of Frances and Townsend. This is reflected in our new material, 'Vampires' and 'In England'.
Now to answer the question we are most commonly asked:'What does Jenium mean?'
The name 'Jenium' derived from the word 'Genius' (Note: this was not chosen in a 'tooting of our own horn' way!). The word 'Jenium' was randomly mentioned by one of us at the recording of 'Close to Home' and 'Take This to Your Heart'. Naturally we all thought it sounded new and experimental. Frankly, anything is better than 'Part Primate'.
As for the future? We are gigging and recording so keep watching the skies!

A while ago I remember hearing a band playing Teddy picker and Hey ya from a house nearby, didn't know who it was. Came across your myspace, listened to your songs, read your about me, and right at the end I realised it was you. But it sounded really good from where I was anyway, wasn't sure at first if it was the actual recording or a band. And your songs are pretty good too! x
