I write paranormal romance for Tor and urban fantasy for Bantam Dell. My first novel, Watchers in the Night, came out from Tor in November 2006. I've got two more novels in that series coming out this year--Secrets in the Shadows, coming May 2007, and Shadows on the Soul, coming September 2007.
The Devil Inside, the first book in my new urban fantasy series, will be a December 2007 release.
Praise for Shadows on the Soul:
"Black hits a note-perfect combination of romance, vengeance and passion. Her best book to date!"
--Romantic Times Bookclub Magazine, 4 1/2 star Top Pick
Praise for Watchers in the Night
"Clever plotting and terrific supporting characters elevate this novel into a first-rate romantic thriller."
--Romantic Times Book Reviews
"Mystery, magic, and vampires! In Watchers in the Night, Jenna Black has created a fresh and fascinating vampire universe. What more could any lover of the paranormal ask for?"
--Lori Handeland, RITA-award winning author
"It struck me as kind of a Stephanie Plum Meets Old Anita Blake."
--Lilith Saintcrow, author of Working for the Devil
Praise for Secrets in the Shadows:
"[A] gripping supernatural drama."
--Romantic Times Bookclub Magazine
"Paranormal romance at its finest! Black writes the kind of hero I want to date!"
--Gena Showalter, author of The Nymph King
Advance praise for The Devil Inside:
“Kick-ass exorcist Morgan Kingsley is sure to win Black a legion of fans.”
--Kelley Armstrong
"A sassy heroine who's not afraid to do what it takes to get the job done or to save a loved one’s life. Add to that a sexy hero, great secondary characters and a storyline that keeps you reading, and this one is definitely a keeper."
--Keri Arthur, New York Times bestselling author of Tempting Evil
My official bio:
Jenna Black is your typical writer. Which means she's an "experience junkie." She got her BA in physical anthropology and French from Duke University.
Once upon a time, she dreamed she would be the next Jane Goodall, camping in the bush making fabulous discoveries about primate behavior. Then, during her senior year at Duke, she did some actual research in the field and made this shocking discovery: primates spend something like 80% of their time doing such exciting things as sleeping and eating.
Concluding that this discovery was her life's work in the field of primatology, she then moved on to such varied pastimes as grooming dogs and writing technical documentation. Among her other experiences . . .
Ballroom dancing.
Traveling all seven continents. Yes, even Antarctica.
Becoming a Life Master in Bridge.
Singing in a barbershop chorus.
When you have time be sure to stop by my blog I have a new spot for author's to promo their newest work so stop by and leave a few lines...Many Blessing Leigh
I love your work. I've only read a few, but I will have the rest soon. I'm a book-aholic!I have over 4,000 at present. I keep the ones I'll read again. Some are getting ragged from use. LOL! Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Jenna! And I think it'll please you to know that you've become an inspiration to me and my writing partner (my sister). We've been working very hard on our series. We can only hope to see it on the shelves someday.
As for "Devil Inside"... LOVED it! When I found out you set the book in Philly, I was so excited! I'm from PA (just outside Philly near King of Prussia) and I've always wondered why popular paranormal authors would set their series in places like New Orleans, St. Louis, even Cincinatti--but NOT Philly! I mean, what gives? Philly's perfect for the genre! It has so much history and character. What demon could resist it? LOL
Reading place names and roads I know 9and have actually been to myself) was a real trip too--i.e. Schuykill Expressway, I-96, Center City, Bryn Mawr, the Main Line... Every time I saw something familiar I laughed out loud. Especially with the local language. I kept thinking "Hey! I say that!" LOL Just felt like home.
Not to mention, the writing was tight, the plot excellant and the characters were solid. You have a bright future ahead of you. :-)
