Influences
my father is a big influence on my music, he was a great songwriter/guitar player. Other songwriters have inspired me as well. To name just a few: Jennifer Knapp, Sara Groves, and Alison Krauss. Also I have to give it up to coffee...yes coffee is a major musical influence in my life (organic fairtrade coffee). Couldn't write without coffee.
Sounds Like
I would say that I sound very similar to myself...people have mentioned Jewel to me and Jonatha Brooke and Natalie Merchant. Oh and actually my own mother thought that Jill Paquette was me when she first heard her cd.
I'm 25 and I play an acoustic guitar. It was my father's first guitar and became mine when he sold it to me for 2 dollars. Great deal. Life can be pretty rough sometimes but if we sing and dance, we see that it can be very beautiful too. That's what I try to write about, the beauty that is life. Every songwriter's got to have a muse and mine is my husband, Taylor. Enjoy the music, and please feel free to comment about it.
