The Queens of Metal, the Female Bon Jovi, however you have heard Vixen described, one of the things you will definitely know is that they were one of the most successful female rock bands in the world. Massive hits like Edge of a Broken Heart and Love Is A Killer heralded their position in the rock charts, and made them a permanent fixture on all the most popular rock compilation albums of the 90s.
Vixen was founded in Minnesota by Jan Kuehnemund, and brought to Los Angeles in the mid 80s where they continued to gig and build up an impressive following, finally cracking the big time in the late 80s. Two immense albums followed, Vixen and Rev It Up, on their record deal with EMI, and the band toured constantly, including some prestigious supports to the Scorpions and Bon Jovi amongst others.
The band called it a day in 1991, although Jan reformed the band in 2001 to undertake the Voices of Metal tour with Vince Neil of Motley Crue fame. A few problems beset the band, not least the fact that the line up changed completely mid tour. Once sorted though, this line up remained strong and is the same line up that have just recorded their new studio album, the follow up to Rev It Up, called Live and Learn. Vixen is Jan Kuehnemund (Guitars), Jenna Sanz-Agero (Vocals), Kat Kraft (Drums) and Lynn Louise Lowrey (Bass).
Whilst recording the new album, the band took a trip over to Europe, to give the fans a chance to not only see the classic songs performed, but also to gauge how the fans would accept the new songs. The result; a resounding success, which culminated in the recording of the band's first live album and DVD at their stage headlining show at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2005. This live album was released in the US by Sony/BMG on July 18, 2006 and will be released in Europe in the Summer of 2007 along with a DVD of the live performance. The European release will feature additional songs not included on the U.S. release.
Vixen's latest studio album "Live & Learn" was released by Demolition Records in Europe in November 2006, and in the U.S. in January 2007.

I leave you now to ride my horses of steel, for they depend on me to run them, no matter how I feel. As my train starts it's journey and leaves behind a lonely town, I have a smile upon my face, but it hides a lonely frown. My headlight burns a path while rolling through endless country sides as well as every little town, people hear me coming as my horn starts to sound.
When the whistle starts to sing it's song, crying out that same old tune, many smiles wave to me, we hope to see you soon. The roaring of my engines can be heard from far away, soon I disappear into the horizon, hoping to return another day.
Sitting at the signal I've stopped my train to wait, for way off in the distance, will come another freight. While riding out these rails of steel, I run this rolling thunder. As I’m looking at the stars above, I often stop and wonder. This is the dream that gives to me my fame, while I'm running out of time, I know it's all part of the game…. ~Nick Nichols~
Hello there my lovely Lady, how are you doing while enjoying this sweet summer breeze? I shall wish upon the stars guiding light to enhance this moment in time. While you slowly find your dreams at the greatest of ease, and the smile upon your face needing only to shine and be at peace…. Have a great one my sweet friend…. Many smiles to you as well, ~Nick~:)
This is Ilknur from Tulsa. Just wanted to stop by and say we had an absolute blast at Rocklahoma. It was a pleasure to see you all on stage once again. I couldn't help but get a little emotional there for a while. Also, thank you for your great hospitality and letting us visit with you. You gals are so much fun to talk to :-)
I look to you when I need to find away to let my inner feelings show, when words are rushing quietly through my mind, like a beautiful river as it flows. Holding you in my arms I move my fingers up and down your neck, I plug you in just to turn you on, while deciding on the perfect effect.…
Feel me now and tell what you’re thinking, touch me now so I can start believing, just lay your fingers upon me for their open eyes to see, so they will from this moment on, feel as though their lonely hearts are once again set free….
Holding you in my arms I move my fingers up and down your neck, I plug you in just to turn you on while deciding on the perfect effect. Finding within us the message to awaken their awaiting senses, while making them believe they’re walking through lush green meadows, maybe being surrounded by little white fences….
You’ve been right here by my side for what seems like oh so long, always wanting me to pick you up and hold you, knowing how much we both get along. Wanting to feel my hands as we play another song, there‘s no way this feeling of love, could ever turn out wrong….
As I touch and move your strings you respond with the magic of your caressing sound, inspiration is lending itself from every direction, only needing me to be aware of what we together may have found. Speak to me easy my six string image of beauty, let me hear yet another dream that will share someone else’s weight, that they alone seem to carry....
