Interests

  • General

I've got lots of interests. But then, most interesting people do, right? And I am not a boring type person. I've learned to love hockey rabidly (GO CANUCKS!!!!!), but I also like watching football (the Bills, and shut up about it lol) and baseball (Yankees). As previously stated, if you're botherin' to read any of this, I read an awful lot, and I also write poetry. And if you think it's any of that "butterflies drift on the mist" crap, you are wrong, and might possibly get kicked in the shin. I am looking to get back into T'ai Chi, I just have to find a good class here. I like to bike, and walk almost everywhere (it's great for the buns). I've started to learn to disc golf, thank to my Pete who plays religiously, and have learned to Turbo Putt. Well, mostly. I love stand up comedy, and some of my absolute faves are Dane Cook (FUCK BEES!!!!), Mitch Hedburg, John Pinette (he made me laugh so hard when I saw him live, I stopped breathing and nearly passed out from asphyxiation!), Dave Atell (Dammit I miss Insomniac now that I'm up here in Vancouver..), and Eddie Izzard. I paint, watercolour and pastels mostly, and draw. That's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure there's more. I'm fascinating, eh?

You are cool, sophisticated and hip – even by today’s standards. You like things before they are considered cool, and you like them long afterwards.

In no particular order: DUMPSTAPHUNK!!!, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck, Michael Buble, Guster, Dropkick Murphys (how I love thee lol), Weezer, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Rentals, M.I.A., The Streets, Madball, The Bruisers, DMB (I AM the Dreamgirl of which he sings. Well, at least according to Pete), Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, Jack Johnson, Fugazi, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Tiesto, Jason Mraz, Donavon Frankenreiter, G. Love & Special Sauce, Trey Anastasio, Matt Sharp, Philosopher Kings, Squeeze, Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Gwar, Frente, Gruvis Malt, The Agents, Combustible Edison, Nickel Creek (NOT the same thing as NickelBACK, you hoser! I detest those whiny rejects!!) Less Than Jake, Suicide Machines, SNFU, the Cure, the Cult, Smiths, Sugar, Bedouin Soundclash, Flogging Molly, David Gray, Damien Rice, Jamie Cullum, U2, Steriogram, Esthero, Gob, Bowling for Soup, James Taylor, Moody Blues, Muddy Waters, Sublime, the Pogues, Belly, the Pixies, the Specials, Scissor Sisters, Fall Out Boy, the Killers, Death From Above 1979, Metric, Amos Lee, Mutlu, String Cheese Incident (newly discovered), the Misfits, the Clash, Tree, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, De La Soul, Digable Planets, Common, Belly, Cake, Dee-Lite, Gavin DeGraw, Janis Joplin, Cat Stevens, MxPx, Butthole Surfers, Dinosaur Jr., They Might Be Giants, Devo, 311, Fito Blanco, Hilario Sans, Echo and the Bunnymen, Jim Croce, Ozomatli, Smithereens, the Dickies ("if stuart could talk.. what would he say?"), Afghan Whigs, Jeff Buckley, the Distillers, KLF, Morphine, Arrested Development, Sarah Slean, Transplants, 3rd Bass, House of Pain, Hothouse Flowers, We Are Scientists.... Sweet jeezy-creezy!! I think that's more than enuff, don't you? I'm sure there's heaps and heaps more that could be added, but I already think I went overboard. ..
  • Movies

This is going to be only the movies I MOST love tho there sure are a lot more I could put here! Big Fish, Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Boondock Saints (that's an all time fave), The Red Violin, Cloak and Dagger, Death To Smoochy, What About Bob? ("Baby Steps...") The Dark Crystal, Eternal Sunshine etc (that is one of the most viscerally moving, beautifully eerie movies I've ever seen), Mr. Deeds, One Crazy Summer, Better Off Dead. Hell, anything with John Cusack is a natch (big puppy dog crush eyes). Umm.. Saw, It (clowns scare the CRAP outta me), Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Suicide Club.. Napoleon

You are very adventurous. You practically lead the Goonies, and are very brave. Your hero is a dead pirate who inspires you to be yourself.

  • Television

I love Rescue Me. I think it's incredibly hysterical, and moving, and has a lot truths in how guys are, and how they relate to other guys, as well as women. It rocks. Also, I'm addicted to Jericho, and Criminal Minds. Mandy Patinkin has always been one of my favorite actors. (I mourn the loss of Dead Like Me...) I watch way more cartoons than most people I know, which makes me cool. I don't care what you say..lol
  • Books

My favourite authors, hands down, are F. Scott Fitzgerald (and his wife Zelda), Heinlein, Bradbury, Mercedes Lackey, Charles DeLint, Neil Gaiman, Raold Dahl (he wrote an adult horror short story that makes me extra leery about pear-shaped men who eat Cheez Doodles STILL! You ain't takin MY body you orange fingered creepos!), Stephen King, Clive Barker (he has this way of making the most disgustingly graphic gore beautiful with the amazing words he chooses), Oscar Wilde, Edith Wharton (tho not Ethan Frome I hate that godamned book! Thanks 10th grade English teacher! lol), Douglas Adams, "The Deer Park" by Norman Mailer. "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by David Eggers was so dark, hysterically funny and truly sad. Also, I loved "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski. It's so weird and intensely creepy. It kept me up some nights cos it got into my skull. Harlan Ellison is also an ultimate for me. I've read everything he's ever written, and it's all good! "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars" - Oscar Wilde THESE ARE MY FAVORITE BOOKS AS A CHILD .. Catundra is the first book my mom taught me to read when I was 3
  • Heroes

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting You know, this is a real tough one. My biggest hero has got to be my little brother. He was successfully operated on when he was 12 for an enormous softball sized tumor that was sitting on his brain stem. He is turning 20 this year. He still has a really long tough road, but man, is he a fighter! He never lost his loving ways, or sense of humor, and was up and talking the next day after the surgery, even tho they cautioned it may take weeks or months to regain his speech. He was walking within the week!! I love that kid more than I could ever explain to him and I sure hope he knows it. He makes me proud to be his big sis.

What can I say about me... I'm super fun-loving, and a little bit zany. Okay, so I'm alot zany *grin*. I have a really sharp wit, or at least like to think so, and LOVE verbal sparring. I'm up for almost anything, provided it doesn't involve any sort of permanent (or even semi-permanent) maiming of my person. Maiming of others may be considered, on a case by case basis *evil grin* That said, I can be incredibly klutzy, but I'm ALWAYS the first one to laugh at myself. I am a serious book addict, and read a LOT. I tend to have 2 or 3 going at the same time. Why? I have no clue, I'm just quirky I guess. I also believe that everyone's life has a soundtrack, and mine plays in my head constantly. Who I'd like to meet:

Basically I'm just lookin for cool people who are just as sarcastic and fun-loving as me. Good sense of humor is a definite must. I'm not lookin to "hook up" and anybody who asks to cyber-ANYTHING will summarily be shot with "lasers" (and yes, I am doin Rock N Roll quotes). *maniacal laughter* Seriously tho, I'm just lookin to find some intelligent friends, who know what I mean when I say that a sign of true maturity is knowing when not to be
