As musicians, we're influenced by every singer, composer, and band we've ever heard since we were children. I can't pinpoint exact influences, but have favorite musicians that will always be at the TOP of my list for inspiration and joy: Enya, Loreena McKennitt, The Wailin' Jennys, Kate Rusby, Nickel Creek, Nick Drake, Sting, Gordon Lightfoot, and many more I can't think of. I'm currently thinking of ideas for my next album - I really like the idea of vocal layering (ala Enya) and folk song tradition styles - like the three part women's harmonies of The Wailin' Jennys. I'm thinking of combining some of these elements for a future project. But I'm always open to other ideas! (feel free to share)
In the meantime, I will continue with my live classical career - singing in shows and classical concerts. Hope to see you all at some of them!
Sounds Like
I sound like me! :-)
My goal is to sing with heart, sincerity, and always bring my love of music to the listener.
The first CD, "Tidings of Christmas", is what I consider a traditional "crossover" album. A mix of light classical and light jazz. It features good old Christmas standards that everyone knows and loves. Simple and intimate, and accompanied by piano.
The second CD, "Echoes of Christmas Past", is early music - specifically music from the 14th to 18th centuries. (Tapping in to the love of early music that I developed while in college.) The new album also was a more ambitious undertaking; not only does it feature many solo pieces, but I included several acappella quartets (SATB), two choral pieces, two duets, and two songs where I sing harmonies with myself. I also had more guest artists as a result of this. I'm really proud of this project and put an enormous amount of work into it. I hope you'll love it! (It should be available online soon - by the end of the week on CDBaby, and by the end of the month on iTunes.)
A little bit jazz, a little bit classical. Sweet lyrical vocals mixed with beautiful piano arrangements.

I'm supporting you, by adding one of your songs to my profile :-) ... You should add different ones, or more so I have more to choose from, so I can change it like weekly :-)
I have a question for ya....Do you know of anyone that wants to buy a piano? It's done in Cherry and is a Roland (electric). You can record on it, layer sounds etc. It is at my parents house in VA, but we are going to be bringing it up here. If you want details on it let me know.
