From a very early age, Jennifer Loyola knew that music was a passion that would not allow itself to be ignored. With a musician father and a mother with a musical background, singing was in Jennifer’s blood. She quickly realized how much she loved to do it and sang whenever and wherever she could; from her high school choirs and musicals, to local contests and performances in the GTA. Influenced by artists such as Celine Dion, Anita Baker, Etta James, Al Green and many others, Jennifer’s heartfelt delivery and honest lyrics combined with a smooth, soulful voice captures her true admiration for these artists. After a brief hiatus to go to university and college, Jennifer (now 24 years old) is back doing what she loves best, singing and writing her songs and is working on having her own EP available to audiences in the very near future.
“One City, One Heart”, written for the United Way 2008 by Jennifer Loyola, is a song about the hardships that people go through everyday and how much a person can help through their generous contributions to complete strangers. Jennifer’s mother, has been on the United Way committee at her company for the past few years and because of her involvement, made Jennifer aware of just what United Way is all about. “I wrote the song because I felt I had an opportunity to maybe inspire others in a different way to go ahead and contribute to a wonderful organization that helps people in their own backyard. One never knows when they might find themselves needing the help themselves.” The song has been used for various corporate United Way events in Toronto and Jennifer performed her song at the United Way Closing dinner on January 21st, 2009 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre!
Currently, Jennifer is continuing to work on her EP (coming soon!) and performing in local venues. “This is definitely a journey, and one I wouldn’t have the courage to take without the support of certain people. But now I’m excited to see what comes next, and what songs will come from it. I only hope people will feel some sort of connection through the music the way so many songs have done for me-there’s no turning back now!” Stay tuned ...
