MySpace a place for friends

Where do I begin? First, if you're here and taking the time to read this, then I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you ask my parents, I've been singing since I could speak. Music has been my life's blood for as long as I can remember. With that said, I've taken the long way around to this point, as it seems I have with many things in my life. In a feeble attempt not to bore you with my life's story, let's see if I can sum up my twisted journey with a few highlights (or lowlights haha).

As all of my high school friends were venturing off to college for their respective careers in business and the like, all I wanted to do was sing. So, I decided that Florida State University's music program was where I should go, since college was kind of a must in my world. I started taking voice lessons to prepare for my audition and quickly found that formalized training in the standards, classical music, and opera turned my joy for singing into an unwelcome chore. Then, much to my despair, as I approached audition time, I started battling tonsil infections every two weeks. I suspect you can see where this story is going can't you? Yes, I went to my audition with tonsillitis, bombed something fierce, and there went my dreams of music school. I went to FSU anyway, for lack of an "appropriate" alternative.

Fast forward through a couple of years of floundering at school, partying, dropping out of college, doing all of the things a smart girl shouldn't and all that late teens jazz, and at 21 years old God blessed me with the wake-up call I so desperately needed--my son. Enter phase two of my life, which involved responsibility and finding a career that would enable me to provide for my son. At 25 years old, I went back to college to become, of all things, a lawyer! Yep, after 6 years of school, I became a lawyer, but don't gasp just yet...I do children's rights work, so I like to think of myself as one of the "good guys" :)

Despite having a satisfying career for a regular job, I've come full circle back to where I started...music. I may not have the freedom to pursue my dream as I might under different circumstances, but I think it's high time I stopped bottling it all up. So here I am with the blessings of technology and myspace lol! I'm really just a singer/songwriter with a laptop, GarageBand, and a crappy mic, hoping that despite all of that, I'm able to share my passion and convey to some of you the joy that music has always brought to me...

P.S. In case you wonder about these things...I have my top friends on random selection so all of the artists (both arrived and on there way) get theoretically equal time on my page. I may not be "known" yet (one can hope though right?), but I'd like to help my fellow musicians get exposure to whatever degree I can as well :)
