Even though I've always wanted to be a Charlie's Angel and a rock star, my true passion is writing, and my first book, The Ice Master, was released in November 2000 and named one of the top ten nonfiction books of the year by Entertainment Weekly. I was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writer, and the book has been translated into eight languages, including German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Danish, and Icelandic.
My second book, Ada Blackjack, was a Book Sense Top Ten Pick, has been optioned for the movies, was recently translated into Chinese, and will soon be published in France and Estonia.
I'm currently working on my third book and first novel, Velva Jean Learns to Drive (based on an Emmy Award-winning film I wrote in grad school at the American Film Institute), which is due out summer 2009 from Viking-Plume.
I'm also working on my fourth book, a memoir of my high school years in Indiana (the big hair! The blue eyeshadow! The crazy, embarrassing adventures!). It will be released next year (if I make it that long!) by Simon Spotlight Entertainment, a division of Simon & Schuster.

I can't wait to read this book when it comes out. Nothing like remembering all the crazy things we did in high school. It was the 80's so people cannot hold us responsible. Hope all is well.
