Journalism, the First Amendment, press freedom issues, geneaology (check out my family tree here), playing the banjo, the Middle Tennessee Pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists(www.spj.org/nashville), bluegrass music, computer-assisted reporting, and watching British comedies on TV. I've also been tinkering some lately with GPS devices, and I'm still trying to master computer mapping of data using ArcView GIS software.

Jennifer Peebles Thanks to the Sunlight Foundation for letting me guest blog today on transparency in Texas! Read my post at http://lnk.ms/2VZdZPosted at 6:21 PM Oct 22 view more
About me: I'm a journalist, frustrated writer and wanna-be banjo picker in Houston, Texas. I work for the nonprofit news site Texas Watchdog. Some other sites I run in my personal time:my personal blog; the world's only Internet-only publication dedicated to Warrenton, Ga., www.warrentonwatch.com; www.blundale.com, the official unofficial site for my father's hometown of Blundale, Ga.; and www.anneandthem.com, the official Web page of a band that is still together, if only in theory (we're gonna get together and play again someday, and when we do, it's gonna be bigger than Paul, George and Ringo getting back together with that 8-track of John). I'm also the Webmaster/blogger for the Nashville chapter (where I used to live) of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Meanwhile, I am considering trying to create a new "group" here on MySpace -- the Group for People Who are Really Too Old to Be on MySpace But Who are Trying to Learn More About the Appeal of This Phenomenon to Our Youth. If you're interested in possibly joining this group, please do let me know.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd be glad to hear from anyone on MySpace who is a fellow SPJ member, other IRE members, other journalists covering statehouses, fellow Vanderbilt Hustler alumni, other journalists trying to learn GIS computer mapping, other banjo pickers and picker-wanna-bes like me and (as I mentioned above) other people who are also too old to be doing this MySpace thing but who are curious as to what it's all about.
Hey Jennifer, Thanks for the add! You're my favorite banjo-playing editor in Music City. We have to have an Anne and Them reunion tour- the fans are getting restless!
Hey, JP! Long time, no talk. Hope all is going well for you... I just built a MySpace page last week -- decided to join the 21st century, even if I did raise the average age of MySpacers by about 10 years! Hey, since you're a music fan, too, bounce from my page over to Cheley Tackett's page and give her songs a listen. I've been listening to her lately and she's awesome. Anyhoo... good to hear from you!
