Music
Bluegrass, Country, Classic Rock, Alternative, Classical, Adult Contemporary, Rock, Jazz, Big Band...specifically, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, John Mayer, Maroon 5, Nickelback, Randy Kohrs Band, Kings of Leon, Bradley Walker, Mashville Brigade, Carrie Hassler and Hard Rain, LeAnn Womack, Joe Nichols, Anna Nalick, Sheryl Crow, KingBilly, The Wreckers, Bad Company, ZZ Top, Boston, Bryan Adams, Christina Aguelera, Vince Gill, Little Big Town, Dan Tyminski Band...I think I need to stop now... hey....just about anything that moves me.... I currently play bass for Rounder recording artist Alecia Nugent.
Movies
Comedies and Romance.....Naked Gun (all three of 'em), Animal House, The Young Frankenstein, National Lampoon's Senior Trip, American Pie I, II, & III, An Affair to Remember (this may be my favorite of all time), The Natural, The Notebook, Good Luck Chuck, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Disney movies, Looney Tunes, Everafter, Tommy Boy, You've Got Mail, Pillow Talk, old black and white movies...I really don't like Horror movies but can watch just about anything else....
Television
Television? What is that? Don't have time to watch many television shows, although when I get to watch television, I tend to watch things like CSI, Cold Case Files, and Grey's Anatomy. What am I saying...I love Grey's Anatomy! I make time to watch it! In fact, I am pretty much addicted to it by now. I want to buy every season on DVD and just get it over with. :) But if I did, I wouldn't get much accomplished. So I don't own them. :) Let's see....I watch the news every opportunity I get. Does that count??? What can I say, I really prefer movies...and I don't have cable...
Books
I seldom have time to read, but these books are on my dusty bookshelf: The Holy Bible, The Secret, The Purpose Driven Life, Letters from a Nut, the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, some biographies, the phone book (that seems to be all I get to read lately), gardening books, personal enlightenment books, romance novels. I love to read about ancient Egypt and Biblical history. It is so fascinating....
Heroes
My parents--My mom, it is amazing how the older I get, how much smarter she gets, but she never stops being the "most fun person I know", independent, witty, funny, self-sufficient, intelligent, well-rounded-she is everything that I want to be; my dad, he has the weirdest sense of humor ever, and always makes me laugh...Daddy, if I ever meet a man like you, I will spend every day thanking God above that he finally found me; Evanel, she has one of the kindest hearts I have ever met and never stops amazing me with her generosity, great advice, and...let's not leave out her fantastic culinary abilities. :) And maybe at the top of my list is my grandpa. He taught me more about life and things that are truly important than I could ever imagine. His words still echo in my head and in my heart. "Just let it go." Now THAT is some true wisdom. I never understood, until recently, just how right he was. He was a great man- full of kindness, generosity, love, compassion, patience, and wisdom beyond measure. I hope someday that I can be a fraction of the person that you were.
I should not neglect to mention those who have successfully started their life over somewhere new with nothing but a dream and the determination to survive; those who follow their heart, even when it leads them down the road less traveled; those who can always find something positive in every situation....you know who you are. You deserve great respect and admiration.
If you really want to know about me, listen to anything that I have written. For the most part, it tells the story of who I am, where I have come from and who I aspire to be. It would be nearly impossible to tell about myself and try to describe who I am any other way. However, if it is general fact you hope to discover, I will share these with you: I currently reside in Music City where I find myself surrounded every day by the music that I love and people who inspire me with their amazing talents. I love most kinds of music, movies (except scary ones), cartoons, classic cars (particularly Shoe box Chevy's), Mexican and Italian food, and down-to-earth people. I enjoy going to ball games-especially baseball, historic places, the theater, and charity events. Like every other hopeless romantic, I love long walks, even longer phone calls and the quickest way to steal my heart is to give me flowers. I am blessed with the greatest friends in the world who are forever keeping me grounded and are never hesitant to remind me of the importance of living in the moment.
I love songwriting, performance, and listening to bluegrass and acoustic country music-although I enjoy any kind of music that moves me. Most recently, I have written "I Can Go Back Anytime" and "Going on the Next Train", both recorded by Carrie Hassler and Hard Rain and produced by Grammy-nominated Jim VanCleve. "Going on the Next Train" was released on their self-titled debut album in September 2006 by Rural Rhythm Records. "I Can Go Back Anytime" was released as a single the end of May, 2008. You can also find some more of my work on Rounder recording artist, Rhonda Vincent's "Ragin' Live" and "One Step Ahead" projects---a song entitled "Missouri Moon". Watch for more original and co-written material on Andy Falco's "Sentenced to the Blues" and on upcoming projects by the Faris Family and Jon Weisberger.

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen. ”
Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my 2nd horror novel SACRIFICE is now in stores everywhere, including Amazon.com! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride! Here are a couple reviews it's gotten so far:
“SACRIFICE is a full frontal assault on your senses. It is a dark, brutal, bloody and terribly frightening book. Everson went deep into some dark abyss to bring this book to the light of day.... I highly recommend SACRIFICE.” —Famous Monsters of Filmland
“John Everson manages in SACRIFICE to dispense buckets of blood, provide edgy perversity, and walk the tenuous tightrope of horror and sex without falling: It’s rather an amazing feat.” –Hell Notes
