A London-born cellist of Nigerian/Grenadian descent, Jenny Adejayan was classically trained from an early age but is best known for her crossover work in the world-music, popular and jazz genres having shared stages, recorded, appeared on television and toured internationally with among others: Courtney Pine, Denys Baptiste, Nitin Sawhney, Soweto Kinch, Duran Duran, Soul2Soul, Razorlight, Gabrielle, Corinne Bailey-Rae, Jamiroquai, Tricky, Diego el Cigala, Ruby Turner, Andy Sheppard, Netsayi Chigwendere, Ronu Majumdar.. As part of world-jazz ensemble Antonio Forcione Quartet she has recorded 3 albums: 'Touch Wood' 'Tears of Joy' 'Live in Concert' and a DVD 'Live in Concert' (Naim label) & in 2007 recorded on Courtney Pine's album 'Resistance'. She has performed in places as far-reaching as The Philippines, Australia, USA, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Barbados, Jamaica, Argentina, Brunei, New Zealand, Canary Isles, as well as numerous venues in Europe and the UK and at major festivals including Womad (UK & Sicily), North Sea jazz festival, HIFA (Zimbabwe), Brecon jazz festival, Edinburgh festival, KROQ (Los Angeles). In 2007 she joint-headlined with Tunisian Oud master Anouar Brahem at the 5th London African Music Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall
with her own band and is currently working on her 1st solo album....
Jenny is also an experienced teacher of cello and musicianship and has led and co-led music workshops in the UK and abroad........
