Jenerally Speaking

I've been alive for almost 19 years now, which doesn't feel like much to me. There is so much more in this world I want to experience and countless faces I'd like to put names to, yet I have no idea what else I would like to do with my life.

I guess you might want to know about my music. I had a few piano lessons when I was about 10 years old, but I quit once I realized I was going to have to follow rules and that my piano teacher didn't appreciate my artistic abilities…which was mostly banging out notes I called my songs. That was about it until I was 17 and blew out my knee. From there, I picked up a ukulele…then another. Then the guitar. And a MacBook Pro. Of course.

I like to say I write music because if I didn't, I'd be crazy. Some people say I am crazy because I write music--mostly about love. It happens to everyone. Love, I mean. Not the crazy part. Writing helps me sort out my crazy; Writing helps me sort out the meaning and the pattern to love and heartbreak. Mostly, I write music because it makes me feel better, and I think it helps other people feel better too. Plus, surprisingly enough, I'm terrible with words. Being able to type this out didn't make me any better (clearly), so writing with a ukulele-piano-guitar-WHATEVER, makes it easier for me to say what I really should have in real life.

Do you care about me as a person? If not, I guess you can just click the X in the corner--I'd never know. I think the most comfortable temperature is 77 degrees, because 80 is just too hot, and anything below 60 makes my fingers go numb. Cheez-Its are really delicious and so is orange jello. Actually, I think I might just like orange foods. Who knows? I'm freakishly happy all the time. My mom once joked that I came out of the womb laughing, but I don't usually tell people that because it makes me sound like a sociopath, so keep that on the "DL". Can you tell that I'm a pretty confused little kitten? I love my Dad's shitty jokes and how he laughs too loud at them. I love hating being surprised by Ohio's weather mood swings. I love laying in the cool summer grass; I love sneezing. I like proofreading papers…I've made a lot of friends that way. I love coming home from college, and I love going back to my friends. I love that crazy feeling you get when you don't know if he's into you, or if he's not. I love surprising people. I love being surprised (but that's a secret). I'd like to say I've matured a lot over the past few years… but I've been this way ever since I was a baby, before I became 17,287 feet tall.

When it comes right down to it, I've decided that I'm going to try to do way more than I ever thought I could. Now, I want to love what I'm doing in my life, not just all the little things that make my life beautiful.

Wow, you actually read all that? I love you for that. I know there was 9,813,198 other things you could have been doing with the past 5 minutes of your life. I love you if you've listened to my music. I love you if you're going to. Hell, I probably love you if you don't. But if you do…. I'll love you like I love cheez-its when I finally save 3$ to buy them. College is tough.
